Hi-

We filed my wife's AOS on Sept/2015 and my step children on March/2016. My wife received her 2 year GC this pass May/2016 and kids received their EAD&AP last month. I just recently saw that one of the kid's status went from Case Was Received to "Case is Ready To be Scheduled For An Interview". But I'm a bit confusion as to why would my daughter get an interview who is only 14 and my wife didn't have too. Has any ever experienced this? Is this normal? If so, how do you prepare for an interview for a minor. What short of questions do they ask? What evidence do we bring? Thanks in advance.

It happens more often than not. If you do a search on the search bar at the homepage you can read more posts.

I'd bring all the evidence you'd bring for you wife plus anything related to the child, like school enrollment, documents, etc

Good luck

We are also working on a K-2 for our 12 year old son.

My wife got her AOS/GC approved in just 62 days in February 2016. They denied her AP/EAD since they were not needed. No interviews were made.

Our son is a different story. Continued inability to use the "Check Case" on USCIS.GOV has made things worse in checking what is going on. I recently checked last week and noticed on July 13 his Check Case did not give me the "Gray Screen of Death" and he was approved for AP/EAD. We received no emails as we did on NOA1. Later checking has stated his AP/EAD card is being mailed.

On his AOS/Green Card application we still get the Gray Screen with NO information. Since the K-2 visa is directly tied to the K-1 visa, my assumption is for non teen aged children this would be a mere formality in issuing the GC. Apparently not.

Thanks for the update on your K-2. I agree having an interview for a K-2 visa seems to be a waste of taxpayer money and resources with immigration that needs to be placed elsewhere given the recent state of events in the world.

It's totally a waste of time if they really want to interview the kids because they won't have the information about my wife and I if that's they're going to ask them. Also, not sure what could they possibly ask them since they are still in school. I have informed our lawyer and she said that our daughter may still not get an interview but in the event they do decide to interview her, we'll just have to prep for it.
