Hi..i have some questions.i got my green card through my marriage n later i divorced i have 10 yrs green card and now i m married again in out of usa i come back in usa and i m pragnent now my question is my marriage is not registered in that country where my marriage occured.can i registered my marriege later or i have to register my marriage before my child born .bcz i also want to file petition my new husband after 5 yrs complte of my green card.and if i registered marriage late does it have any impact on my citizensship.if i registered my marriage after baby born than its ok or not..plz answer my question

I agree with the previous poster-- all you need is the marriage certificate at the wedding ceremony and you can legally change status from single/divorced to married and may fill in all government forms as such. I am not aware of any other step apart from the ceremony itself, unless you plan on changing your last name to that of your new spouse's. In which case, you will need to inform (for example) the DMV in order to have your name changed on your license and other tedious paperwork that comes with changing status & last name.

I don't understand. If your marriage is not registered in the country it occurred (I'm assuming Pakistan) then you are NOT in fact, married. At least not in the eyes of USCIS. You need to get legally married.

If you are not legally married in Pakistan then you are not legally married here. How were you "married" in Pakistan ?

Was it just a ceremony ? Whatever steps it takes to be legally married there will be recognized here. You must have proof of

a marriage certificate. Otherwise your not considered married here. Before you petition your new partner on a CR1 you need to

worry about proof of a legal marriage.

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

You don't have to worry. When are you planning to go back there? Before or after you give birth to your child? During you next trip to Pakistan (whether it's before or after you give birth to your child), register your marriage to the corresponding authority. The registration could be a year later or so but the marriage date on your certificate will still be the day you got married ceremonially. It will not have any negative impact on anything.

Yes exactly i got married but just ceremony not registered i have marriage certificate but that marriage is not registered so can i registered later or i should register before baby born..when i apply my citizenship before citizenship can i register my marriage it does have any bad impact on my citizenship.yes marriage occured in uk it wast just islamic marriage like i have just marriage certificate ..so may b later i can register this marriage in pakistan .

You got married in the UK? Was there a registar present? If not, then you are not legally married. A religious ceremony is not enough in the UK unless a registrar was present to witness the event.

You are not married in the eyes of the law here.

If you are not a British citizen and not a citizen of a eu or eea country you need to get a marriage visa to marry in the UK even if normally you would not need to have a visa. If you are having a religious ceremony in the uk as a non eea citizen you must give 28 days notice to a designated registrar before having the ceremony. At the ceremony you must have two witnesses and you must sign the registrars documents at the ceremony. https://www.gov.uk/marriages-civil-partnerships/foreign-national

If you did not do the above you are not married. The U.K. does not do after the fact registration of marriages.

Bebo,

You should go ahead and register your marriage now with the nikah registrar. You do not need to have this done before your baby is born, but you will need to have it done before filing a petition for your husband. Just curious why you have not registered your marriage so far?
