Can a refused tourist visa use previously issued valid US visa

Hi, I and my family applied for US visitors visa but were refused visas. However I have my previous visitor's visa which I was issued earlier. It is in my expired passport. Does consular officer cancel my previous visa in the system when he refused my new visa application? Can I travel to US using my old valid visa? He didn't tell me he cancelled my old visa neither did he ask for it.

You cannot use the old visa, it is cancelled. even if there isn't "cancelled without prejudice " stamp on your visa.

If you travel through Europe, many airports have DHS staff stationed there, so chances are you will be denied boarding.

Sounds like you were sent by yourself to try to see if you get approved. Then once approved, the whole family goes, thinking they will get approved too as you already did.

The valid-looking visa will likely get you on to a plane and to a port of entry of the US because the airlines won't hav access to the government system that shows your visa denial. It will not, however, get you into the US. Even without a stamp in your passport, the immigration officer at the port of entry will know you were denied a visa after the visa in your old passport was issued -- and the more recent decision of the visa officer will be aceepted by immigration as the valid one (e.g., you do not qualify for a visa). Your entry will be denied, your will be returned home, and you will have lost the money you paid for the airline ticket.

Read a recent post in a another forum.. applicant issued a B1, visited the US couple times. Returned home, subsequently applied B2 with spouse n kids.. they were all denied and B1 cancelled.
