Hi guys,

based on people who are currently scheduling interviews and such, how long is it taking from NOA2 to interview? Are dates for the interview available for months away or its easy to get a closer one? what about medical, do you need to schedule it far in advance?

obrigada :D

I don't know how things are looking right now because of the Olympics, but last year I got an email from the embassy exactly 5 weeks from the Noa2. There were dates to 2 weeks later at that time.

Right now it seems nvc is taking a little longer to send the approved petition to the embassy.

The medical is scheduled to your discretion. Where are you from? Where are you planning to go to have your medical done? The availability will depend on the Doctor as well. People go to their Medical the same week as the interview. I went to mine 2 weeks before the interview

It will depend on your readiness and availability, I believe once you get the OK from the consulate, you can do everything within a month, if you're organized and have everything good to go.

Good luck

Im from estate of Sao Paulo, I'll probably get the medical there, even tough it takes up to 10 days for the results.

I get a little confused actually about how the process works after NOA2 and NVC. So when you get NOA2, the case goes to NVC and then is sent to the embassy, which sends out packet 3. am i correct? the interview and medical will be able to be scheduled at what point?

After noa2, uscis sends your case documents to nvc, they scan things, enter the case into the system, etc and from there it's sent to your country's embassy.

Once the embassy has it, the hard copy, they do some admin processing there and will contact your American fiancé by email to let you guys know about the next steps. There's not really a packet 3 or 4, it's just the email.

I strongly suggest waiting the embassy's contact before scheduling anything.

From there you can schedule the medical and interview. I don't know about the doctor from sp, but dra Juliana from bh only schedules the medical when you already have the interview appointment.

I see some people talking about calling NVC to get the RDJ number to schedule interview and medical. Is that a thing? Its also on the timelines here at VJ.

The doctor in São Paulo doesn't allow you to schedule unless you already have an interview date and letter. I've tried to do so. My results from the doctor were ready in less than a week.

You can definitely call the nvc to get your case number faster.

Like I said, I suggest waiting for the embassy to contact you, because that way you can be sure your case is ready and have gone through all the Adm processing required for them.

I'm cautious and would not take the chance of scheduling anything before getting the green light from the embassy, but if you're comfortable, you do what you think it's best at your discretion

It's different from country to country but I think in Brazil things go faster if you want to. You can pay your interview fee online, set your own appointment online, there's no need to send packets back and forth, etc. If you work on the documents for the interview right now, whenever the consulate contacts you, you'll be ready to go.

I have some tips:

Check if your police certificates are available online, that way, if they're not, you have plenty of time to request them directly to the police;

Have your American fiancé take a look at the i134 and practice filling it, make him get his tax papers and whatever else he needs as supporting documents. Remember that receiving his papers by correios can take a while (mine took longer than expected even if it was sent by express mail) and be prepared for that. Also have a copy of his birth certificate in hand at your interview, they don't ask on the list of documents but it's needed;

Find your vaccination card and go to a posto de saude and make sure yours are up to date;

Plan on what you need to do in Brazil, like closing bank accounts, cancelling credit cards, let documents prepared for taxes, etc. I had a hard time exchanging currency, for example.

But the best advice is to breathe and not to worry, you'll have plenty of time to understand and do everything.

If you need help, you can message me (in English or Portuguese) if you want to.

Good luck
