Hello people and thanks for accepting me in this forum

in 2014 i've been denied an F1 student Visa under 214b section from Tunisia ( not enough strong ties to the home country )

now things have changed , i got a good job making decent money , and i'm planing to go to the USA as a tourist to attend a rock concert and a WWE event

My question is , will the previous denial of the F1 visa reduce my chances of having the tourist visa ? are there any specific documents i need to show or bring with me once i have a date for an interview ? and does being engaged ( planing to get married in early 2017 ) help ?

any help is welcome , thanks in advance , cheers people !!!

F 1 refusal does not help.

Generally the information they need is on the application form.

Do not think they ask if you are engaged, married may be a slight positive.

You have much against you. Just having a job is not a country tie at all. people quit there jobs everyday. you have against you.

1 Your country

2. You have a significant other in US which makes you a viable immigration risk

3. Denied prior Visa application which can be looked r as desperate.

But sure doesn't hurt to apply. Only way you will know for sure.

Some countries traditionally have a higher rate of fraudulent applications which makes everyone applying from that country have a hard time.

I think the other poster assumed that the fiancée is in the USA but I assumed your fiancée is in Tunisia.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Not specifically but they do look more closely at those from countries whose citizens have previously had a tendency to come on tourist visa and 'forget' to go back the next applicant being judged for what previous applicants have done. Also the attack on Nice in France might have increased security checks for those from your country as well so it might take longer to get a tourist visa application processed as more checks lead to things going slower.

That coward attack will do some serious damage to our reputation , if we had any left ....

so considering all the replies i consider my chances slim to none

If you have the spare cash for the visa fee and it won't harm you financially to lose it then go ahead but it might help your case if you have travelled to a few other places and returned home at the end of the holiday before applying again to the US.

It sucks when the actions of others impede on your chances but that's the way with immigration and visas, they tend to view all from the country under the same label.

Congratulations on your engagement and best wishes for your wedding.

Do not think they ask if you are engaged, married may be a slight positive.

Veering off the OP's situation, but married is only a slight positive if the spouse is also applying. If married and wife isn't coming along, it can look bad. Husband of my wife's friend was denied tourist visa for that reason (he was planning to visit friends here, they thought it was strange she wasn't coming along)..

OP, if your salary is $30K or more per year, I'd say it's worth a shot. If it's between $20K and $30K, not so good. If below $20K, forget it.

OP said he was earning decent money, somebody earning not a lot will not be looking to vacation in the US.

I would say it depends on the country and individual, Tunisia is a developing country so I am assuming not everybody makes 20K.

As a matter of fact, the average salary of many ESTA countries is lower than 20K.

the only way to find out , is to apply/

How could somebody earning say 10k in the US look to vacation in Tunisia?
