Petitioner being present for K1 visa interview of beneficiary

 Share

My understanding is that most USA embassies only allow US citizens in if they have an appointment.

I know that technically the petitioner cannot be present, side by side the beneficiary, while he / she is questioned by the CO.

However, I do want to be present in the building or off to the side for the CO to know I am there. They may or may not want to meet me.

Either way, I want to be there.

Can I get in with the interview appointment of my fiancee, as the petitioner?

I am not sure I can just walk in the USA citizens entrance ad hoc...

However, I know that many petitioners were able to go to the embassy with their fiancee. they got in somehow.

Any insight or help would be appreciated.

thanks.

However, how do I get in if appointment only?

Do I make an appointment for myself around the same time? For whatever reason?

Or can I use her letter to get in the USA citizen side, as the petitioner...

Seems so easy, but so hard.

As a USA citizen one would think that I would be able to walk into the USA embassy. What it is there for. USA citizens

Try to search your country portal as this is embassy specific. Post in your regional forum where others will see it going through

the same embassy and read the embassy reviews. Toggle all three options on the review filter.

According to some recent reviews it looks like the petitioner may accompany the applicant to the interview in Riyadh (http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Saudi+Arabia&cty=&dfilter=5).

You would not make your own appointment, but accompany the main applicant.

Here are details about the embassy:

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Saudi%20Arabia&cty=Riyadh

No experience, but I would suggest you let them know in advance that both of you intend to show up.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Not trying to be a disappointment but unless you are Muslim male (which you very well could be) your chances of getting a visa to Saudi is extremely rare. They are one of the most difficult countries to get granted entry. Especially if you're single. As far as me, I can't go to Saudi for my fiancés interview because I am a single female American. Also, if you are seen together with your fiancé and not married the consequences can be very harsh. I'm not sure if you're familiar with Saudi and the laws, but it's not somewhere you can just visit and freely walk around. Saudi Arabia discourages visits by U.S. citizens and is not currently issuing standard tourist visas. For those lucky enough to get approved, the rules are strict: female travelers under the age of 30 must travel with their husband or brother, or with a groupit is only OK for men and women to travel together if they can prove they are married or are part of a larger group.

You can go to and visit the embassy for your fiances appointment, and it tends to make the interview go better on average for the beneficiary. I know in my sake and other people I have heard about it makes it alot better for beneficiary if the petitioner is there as well, in our case the CO saw that we were a genuine couple and granted us a K1 visa on the spot.

I do not know how easy it will be for you to actually get into KSA though.

Meg&andrew made a very good point. I also am in the country (Afghanistan) visiting my fiancée, and I am the USC. Although it isn't the safest place, I was advised by many that attending my fiancées interview it would be harsh and be looked at as if we are married because we are "too close" to be engaged (due to religious and cultural norms) and it can lead to a denial.

100% agree with what meg&andrew said and I advise you look closely into the cultural and religious Norms of the country. I will be here most likely for my fiancées interview but definetly will not be attending as it can make them think other things.

thanks for all the comments / advice. I know that SA is hard to get a visa to.

If i go, will be on a gov't visa, Will get a letter from the State Department (If i do it).

I will definitely stay away from her outside the embassy, but once in there, I am on USA soil. The Consulate General is a woman too. hmm

I am not sure if the entrance she will be going into will be considered USA soil, and I can just show up separately in a different taxi and jut pop in line..

I will probably contact the embassy / consulate for advice. If I can get in the the embassy on the gov't visa already, being there for consulate meetings.. etc.

Will see. However, there is the safety issue too. I am not too thrilled about that. I may fly to Dubai and take the day flight back and forth....

Is never easy, is it?

Thanks again for all the advice

Regards

T
