Hi guys,

I'm desperate.. don't know whether to sue them or strangle them (Fedex).

My fiancee's interview is on March 28 (Next Wednesday). I mailed her the affidavit forms and other financial documents along with some proof of us having met in person, etc. (she has other proof, though). I mailed all of this to Moscow via Fedex on the 12th. On the 15th the package arrived in Moscow and its status has been "clearance in progress" since then. I've called and emailed them numerous times with no effect. They keep telling me "soon" all the time.

How important are the financial docs at the interview? What should we do?

Thanks!

:crying:

wow thats strange...from the time we got our packet III in Feb..i fedexed all my stuff that i was compiling since the NOA2..and i sent it on a friday and he got it on a monday...i don't see why documents would need to be cleared

i think (well from what i have been reading) they play a key role in the interview into how you will be supporting your spouse

Sorry to hear about your delays. Try to stop crying. The delay here is not Fed-Ex. All foreign packages must clear customs. Sometimes that can take a few days. The longest span in Brazil for us was 4 days with our package waiting to be cleared for delivery. What can you do? Nothing.

The I-134 is a critical piece of evidence at the Interview. Without it, visa issuance will more than likely be delayed. Sometimes the visa is approved, but you get a 221-G with terms to deliver the I-134 and they will issue the Visa.

As odd as it sounds, they are probably in customs. I would call fedex U.S. and ask exactly where they are (you can see this online, probably as much as they will know) but you shoudl be able to tell where in the system the docs are at. FedEx is still an American Company so push them. 1-800-GO-FEDEX.

If they say, we don't know, ask for a trace, if you get no relief, ask for a supervisor.

Good Luck

Unfortunately, without the Affidavit of Support, you will not get your visa approval. Before they will give you the visa, you will need to provide the AOS to them.

Hope they show up in time for the interview.

I actually called that number and also their international line. First they said that would send some sort of a notice to the customs to hurry them up. Then they told me that the package should be released either today or tomorrow (from this morning's phone call). Today nothing changed. Somehow I'm not trusting them with tomorrow either :(((

I know it's not their fault, but I've read that DHL and UPS deliver normally, without such delays. Unfortunately I read this after using fedex...

P.S.

They are in customs.. And I don't understand at all why customs would keep a package with just documents for so long.

So she should still go to the interview and not reschedule it, they'll just ask to bring the financial docs later?

I agree to not get too worried yet. Check the priority you sent it, I assume overnight priority. If that is the case, tell Fedex you want your money back first off because they didnt deliver on time (pizza delivery theory here). Next, I would wait and check the website as soon as possible in the am, becuase it is much later in Moscow. If I know something is leaving in Germany I can generally find out by 4am that it cleared customs ...well you get the idea. If it clears in Moscow at noon their time, it is what your time? Then dont wait until the end of the day, tell them you want them to...push it, or find out what the problem is. THeir hands are tied if it is in customs...but it doesnt mean you can keep ringing their phone off the hook. Additionally like I said, check your service request and see if you need a refund. It will pay for the next package.

Call FedEx and demand they do something - now. I mailed my financial docs to my fiance last minute by DHL. The day they were supposed to arrive in France (only a few days before his interview) the package was still in Ohio. I called DHL and they said it was kept there for reasons beyond their control. I told them that wasn't good enough and it needed to get to France that same day. She kept saying things that didn't satisfy me and I got really upset and refused to get off her phone til she did something about it. She said she'd have an investigation started and someone would call me back.

Needless to say, it had gotten stuck in Ohio because of an ice storm. They put my package on a plane 2 hours after I got off the phone with them, they flagged it as urgent so all points it passed through would see it right away. It got to England that night, on a plane to France the next morning, and into his hands that afternoon.

Would it have worked out so well if I didn't raise a stink? Take it from a customer service rep - probably not. The annoying callers who insist get the best treatment in the end. ;) Demand a supervisor if you need to, threaten to require a full refund for not getting what you paid for, etc. if conventional politeness doesn't get you what you need.

Edit: Oops, just read your comment update now. Well, that's good that they're doing something. Stay on top of them. If it's not released from customs this morning call them to get an update. ;)
