I have and continue to support the idea that the US needs to cut back to the point of almost completely banning immigration from highly islamic countries except with special circumstances. If you want to fashion it as PC, ban it from countries that have major terror problems. We can't afford it, and the risk is too high. And moreover we don't need it; there are many other countries with many who want to come to the West and who are not raised in, and subsequently believe in very high numbers, in barbaric concepts like sharia law. Pew and others have given us the data we need, we just need to apply it.

The focus on Sharia is misguided. There are plenty of elements in Sharia that are intensely personal. There's no reason to test people for those.

However, elements of Sharia (or any foreign body of law) that are in clear contradiction of American law should be disavowed by would-be immigrants before landing on our shores. Nothing wrong with that.

If you believe democracy is a sin similar to idolatry, you shouldn't come here. That's just one example. There are many more, and this isn't limited to Sharia (not by a long shot).
