I would. Apply for passport. Dont leave usa until passport is in hand.

My daughters have US passport, will there be no problem when they travel outside US? Will the immigration in the airport will hold them if they are entering coz in the system is still GC? Is ur child also came here in the US under IR2 visa and you just applied for US passport right after they enter US?

No because Im not a USC but I understand how citizenship is passed on.  If your children have passports, why are the CBP going to look them up? Do they look you up? No.

How this works, if you meet ALL the criteria, you pass on your citizenship.  If you do not, then you dont.  They muat be under 18, legitimate, in your custody, and an lpr.

If you have issues understanding this, please talk to a lawyer.  I am not one.

There will be no problem.  If they have a US passport, they are US citizens.  The GC is null and void as soon as the passport is processed.

Technically, the GC is voided the moment Naturalization oath is administered.

If i do nkt pay, they might not issue him a greencard.

That's the main point. He doesn't need a GC since he will be a citizen once he is in the US. The i551 stamp he will get on his passport upon entering US is the proof of his permanent residency, a copy of which will be needed while applying for his US Passport.

Not a copy, they want the original, you will have to send/submit your original passport with the stamp inside.

Hi! I just want know the update on your son. So when he enters the US did you pay for immigrant fee which is $165 and did you also file for N600 Certificate of Citizenship?  I have the same case, my 2 daughters entered the US August 2015 under IR2 visa, after entering the US I went to the local USCIS and asks the next step, the IO from the booth told me that I can just apply them a passport and it is cheaper that way. So I followed his instruction and got a passport but I went to back to the USCIS like this year and officer told me that they are still permanent residence status. That I need to pay for green card fee and N600 to update their system. Did your son travel back to the Philippines and did he encounter a problem when going back in the US? Please I need help..Thank you.

You were given bad info.  Your kids are US citizens.  Having a US passport is evidence of being a US citizen.  You spent $1200 for documents which frankly are not needed.

Possibly for somebody who is naturalizing from a permanent resident.  But irrelevant to the discussion at hand since when/if the mother took the oath, the child was still in the home country and the child's greencard didn't even exist yet.  So how can it be voided?
