NVC Phase of CR-1 Visa - A Few Questions

My AOS fee is already unlocked (can't pay it until Friday though :( ). I am going to call NVC now and verify the DS261s and tell them about my address. Then I will get all my paperwork together before Friday and send it in. Also I will pay the IV fee Friday if it is unlocked and do the DS260.

Awesome, sounds like everything is going according to plan :) Don't forget to ask about linking the two cases together by the way... we wouldn't want one case to get ahead of the other.

Hey Teddy. I want to thank you and xmaricrisx for answering my questions very quickly. Seems like everytime I ask something the last few days one of you answers within minutes. That helps a lot considering I have a limited amount of time to work on this because my laptop batteries only last so long before I have to go back home and recharge. On hold with the NVC now. Good point about linking the cases together xmaricrisx. Guess I will update my timeline while I wait on hold. By the way how do you guys put your timeline in your signature?

I know how to edit the signature. Just didn't know if you typed the timeline in manually or if there was some feature to put it in automatically.

Just got off the phone with NVC. Went very smoothly. The rep asked me if I wanted to verify the agent before I even told him what I was calling about and I asked if the cases would be linked and he says that happens automatically unless you specifically request they not be linked. He also told me when I pay the AOS fee under one case number it automatically covers the fee for the other case number. Also according to him the DS260 will be unlocked within a week of paying the IV fee (probably quicker if Teddy's case is any indicator). This rep was very helpful and seemed to know what I was going to ask before I asked it lol. The only thing I actually had to ask about was the address and he said he updated it in the system and I should be good to go. Looks like things are continuing to move along quickly here (almost too quickly). Just a matter of waiting until I get paid Friday and getting the paper work together.

Hi xmaricrix how's your own journey going? I know NVC is tired of me. Nothing more I can do for a month now. Are you going to be attending your husbands interview

All that anxiety for nothing, haha. You were lucky to get a rep that was actually nice and accommodating. A lot of the reps that I spoke to sounded like they wanted me to stop calling. I'm glad things are moving swiftly for you! Before you know it your wife and step-son will be there with you ;)

My journey has been halted, as you know, by my husband's sputum exam. He's not scheduled to give his samples until next week, so everything is just at a standstill for me for the next 8-10wks :( I will not be able to attend my husband's interview because it's difficult for me to travel with my 2 year-old that hates traveling long distances, especially in airplanes. So, I will just be waiting here...

The first thing the rep said after I gave him the case number was "Let me see what I can do to get your cases moving along here". I wish they were all like that. Hopefully the visas are in hand before Christmas. Maybe I should think about the medical exam soon?

I hope my wife and step son don't have a sputum. They have both had a bad cough recently but it is gone now. I hope everything goes quickly for you and I'm sorry to hear about the delay. I will not be attending the interview either as I will hopefully be flying there when the visa is in hand to fly back with my wife and step son.

It is a long flight. Flying to the Philippines was the first flight I was ever on too. I looked for the shortest flight possible and it was about 21 hours including a layover in Hong Kong coming from Chicago. I hope we are ready to fly by the end of November so prices aren't outragous.

Hi, with this process we have to plan everything out well even more important is how we chose the flights cuz the price changes day to day alot of studying different sites

Yes, planning everything out in advance is definitely a must when it comes to traveling to and from the Philippines. The cheapest one-way ticket (MNL -> JFK) I found for the first week of November is around $700 but it uses multiple airlines and has about 2 layovers, one of which requires him to go through immigration at LAX and then re-check his baggage in again... that is too complicated. The next one is a little over $800, which doesn't seem too bad I guess, since it's only 1 layover... I'm hoping it will still be available when it comes time for us to book his flight.

There is no way I will be able to go to the Philippines, even if it's to just pick my husband up; I don't know how happy the other passengers would be with a wailing toddler for 75% of the flight. Since my husband is unfamiliar with flying (the only time he's been on a plane was to go to Boracay from Manila), I typed out a detailed step-by-step guide for him so he knows exactly what to do; he's used to traveling alone so i'm confident he can make the trip okay.

Hi xmaricrix and a good morning to you. If your looking for a flight that goes to JFK look on EVA AIRLINES that might help. Me and my wife honeymooned in Boracay and it was beautiful there in Dec 2013
