NVC Phase of CR-1 Visa - A Few Questions

Hi I called them everyday first thing in the morning and then before they close shop for the night sometimes you get the same agent and he knows what you want and he says to himself there goes that pain in the ### again. Cuz I called 7:01 this morning and they picked up right away

And I thought calling once a week was too much. Seems like the last couple times I called they sounded annoyed that I was calling again. When I called the other day unlike the last couple times they didn't even give me an estimated wait time (the first time it was 6 weeks, the second time it changed to 2 weeks). Maybe I can call again today and play dumb and say I didn't know how long to wait. Is it true that they will expedite your case number if you keep calling every day? If that is the case I will start doing that. Should I specifically ask for a tier 2 rep? For how many days in a row have you been calling every day?

So the AOS fee is first? How long after that is the soonest you can pay the IV fee? I am wondering because I am broke until my paycheck next Friday but I want to stay on top of everything and pay the fees and send in the paperwork as soon as possible. I am trying to plan my finances accordingly. Does anyone know how long it takes to get an NBI certificate? I keep trying to get on my wife to get it as soon as possible but things keep coming up where she is busy with school and other things. That is pretty much the only document I need now (that my wife or I don't have immediate access to). I thought I read somewhere that some people send in their paperwork before it is even requested and that takes a couple weeks off the wait time. Is this a good idea? Of course I would wait until I at least have a case number to do this.

Our goal is for my wife and step son to be here before Christmas if possible. Of course we aren't making any concrete plans until they have their visa in hand. I know plane tickets are going to be expensive because I wont be able to buy them ahead of time. The good news Is I talked to my boss and explained the situation and he said he will arrange some time off work for me to fly there even though it will be short notice. When is the soonest you guys would recommend getting the medical exams done? I would like to do it as soon as possible in case there are any delays.

So if I understand that thread correctly I can send in the paper work as soon as the AOS fee is paid and the DS-261 is completed. Looks like Teddy has the right idea calling them every day. I think I will start doing that too. It appears if I stay on top of things this could be a quick process. What is the average time from completing the NVC process to the interview?

Hi JG, things are starting to move faster just have to stay ahead of these procedures like yesterday I called NVC 3x just to make sure what I'm doing is being done right. Do your DS-261 unlock the AOS fee pay that. Confirm your DS-261 by calling NVC back and when you have all of your documents and paperwork ready send it in with the bar-coded sheet

Then when you get case complete on to your embassy interview within 2 months

Your wife can go to any NBI clearance branch and get her NBI clearance the same day, as long as she doesn't have the same name as anyone ;) My husband had to wait a week for his because apparently he has the same name as 3 other men in the Philippines. I believe you can apply for the NBI clearance online as well, but I don't know how well that process works or how long it would take for it to get to your wife.

Hi teddy! It's not necessary to send any 2x2 pictures to NVC, but you will need them for the interview and medical.

Just wanted to make sure. So does your husband still have his interview in September or does he need to clear medical first cuz my stepdaughter always gets these coughs but now I have her on meds. I'm going to let her finish school there then bring her over in April. So keep in touch have a good night

My husband has to have his interview rescheduled. SLEC says that they can reschedule for him but for all I know they may schedule him for late November  Therefore, I plan on doing it myself. I have a date in mind that I want to reschedule it to in October, but I will wait until my husband gives his sputum samples first so I know if it will be enough time for SLEC to send his results to the embassy.

Called the NVC before work yesterday. Still no case number (and again was not told how long to wait before calling again). I will try again today.

My wife got her NBI certificate today. Got a few questions to make sure all the info is correct. First of all someone told me to make sure it has her maiden and married name on it. It has her maiden name listed on it with a section that says "husband's surname" with my last name entered. Is this what is meant by having both names on it? The next thing is under "purpose" it says "travel abroad". Is that correct for the purpose? The last thing is under "remarks" it says "No Record On File". I could be wrong but I thought I read somewhere if there is no record that you need additional documents. Maybe I am mistaken on this. If everything is correct on this document can my wife just scan it and email it to me or do I need the original?

I am working on getting everything together for the AOS package right now. I know check stubs, an employment letter and all but last year's tax transcript are optional. As far as check stubs go I only have a few but my employer uses an online payroll service (ADP) where I can login and get printouts. Are these printouts acceptable as a replacement for check stubs? As far as the employment letter goes I will be requesting one tomorrow at work and I have a feeling I will be waiting a while before I get it. How important is this document? As far as tax transcripts go I have 3 years worth but the only problem is I was under the income requirement for all but the most recent one. Should I still send all 3 or just the most recent one? Have people received a checklist in the past for no employment letter or check stubs? If the employment letter takes too long I don't want to wait for it if I don't have to.

I know that is a lot of questions and I haven't even got into the questions I have about the I-864 yet. I want to try to stay ahead of the game here and complete every step as soon as possible like Teddy is doing. I am sure I will have more questions over the weekend as I get more into the paper work.

1. To be valid for the interview is her NBI CLEARANCE on a Green Form? if Yes no problem. Did she use all her AKA's? - current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. If not return and get a new NBI

2. Yes that is correct

3. Yes that is correct. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, or "No pending case”. If her NBI states "no record on file" then she is good to go.

4. It's easier to get a tax transcript and it takes about two weeks for it to be mailed to you. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

5. ADP check stub prints are fine.

6. The employment letter if listed in required documents, then it is important. Don't skip something just because it puts you out of the way in getting the form from your employer. I did a letter for my employer and took it to my supervisor and she signed it. DONE. Think outside the box

7. Again, if it is a required document then you must submit it or face and RFE that will put you behind 2-4 weeks.
