Pray they don't lose your files if they didn't scan them into the system

That would be one of the biggest risks you would take JG if you decide to send your documents early but not pay the fees soon after... if they lose anything that would mean a checklist, thus delaying you even more. That's the worse thing that could happen since you want your wife and step-son to get here as soon as possible. I guess another possible scenario would be, they review your documents but refuse to give you a CC or put you into the queue for an interview until you pay the fees. It could go either way.

Well I just had another setback. I got my car back from the shop yesterday after getting the deer damage fixed and the engine was making a knocking noise. Currently my car is sitting in the driveway with the valve covers off and rocker arms out because I believe that is the problem. A $300 fix if I do it myself. I have not been able to work overtime because I have not had a car. Now other expenses are adding up and I don't see how I will pay the visa fees with my next check. So it will be another two weeks of waiting. Just my luck. We get through the USCIS in record time and I can't take advantage of it due to my financial situation. I see the possibility of my wife and step son being here by Christmas slipping away. Guess I should plan on January. I hope things are going better for you Teddy and xmaricrisx.

Oh my! I'm sorry you have been delayed once again JG :( Sometimes life is mean like that... but don't worry, everything will work out in the end. Your wife and step-son will get here soon.

My husband hasn't received any phone calls from SLEC so that's a good sign. And the waiting continues... :clock:

Any updates Teddy? Here is my situation. My car is worse than I thought. It appears i spun a rod bering (if you don't knoiw much about cars that means I might need a new engine at a cost of $5000+). The good news is my brother offered to borrow me some money for visa fees and i should be able to scrape up enough with my next check to pay the IV and AOS fees and send in the paperwork. My car is in the shop right now being looked at so I don't know how much that will cost me so i might be low on funds when it comes to paying for medical exams and plane tickets and whatever other fees are left in the process. As of right now there is no overtime available at work which I am hoping will change. How does it work when the NVC part of the process is finished? Do they automatically schedule an interview or is that left up to us? Worst case if I need an extra month or 2 to pay medical exam fees can the interview be put off? If I have no problem paying the medical exam fees and I don't have money for plane tickets right away my wife and step son have 6 months after the medical exam assuming they have visas to come here correct?

Right now visa expenses come first for me but I do need a car to get to work so that has to be my top priority. I am so desperate I might rebuild the engine myself to save a few thousand dollars if it comes down to it. It sucks this car only has 43,000 miles on it and i bought it to have a reliable way to get to work but it is what it is I guess. I know things will work out eventually. My wife keeps telling me she wants to get here as soon as possible and find a job to help with the bills. I think it is best if she waits a few months and gets used to living here first but I am glad she has a desire to help me out with my expenses. Instead of sitting at home and living off the money I send she decided to use her time bettering herself and she is going to school right now and getting very good grades.

I think things will work out for the best in the end because maybe in January or February I can afford to fly to the Philippines and fly back with my wife and step son. If she is here by February at least we will be together before our 1 year wedding anneversary. And it will still be far quicker than I originally expected. I am not overly religous but I do believe God will provide me and my family with a way as he has in the past. I will pray for you Teddy and xmaricrisx that you are reunited with you family members soon. Keep me posted on your progress.

Hi JG & Teddy! Nothing new to report on my end; still waiting for time to pass. My husband's sputum culture is on its 4th week and no calls yet  These last few weeks of waiting have been agonizing... I'm looking forward to November since that is the estimated time my husband will come here, if all goes well of course. I have actually already scheduled his interview for October 24th; I really wanted to make sure he would get interviewed before the holiday in the Philippines (Oct.31-Nov. 2). Hopefully he can be here around election day.

JG, you should take your time with sending the documents. Things go pretty quickly once your case is completed, which is why if you need more time or need to delay anything the best time to do it would be in the NVC stage, before sending out the papers.

Hy guys. Any updates on your cases? Here is my update. I will have enough money to pay all the fees tomorrow when I get paid. I will be mailing out all the paperwork right away. I am wondering should I mail it to the address on the letter I got from NVC or the one listed on their website? Also how long does it take for the DS260 to be available after I pay the fees? My next step will be getting my wife to gather all the paperwork for the interview and saving for medical exam fees (which I understand have gone up).

Hi JG! Good to have an update on your cases... you should send your packages to the address on the coversheet. The DS-260 will be available once the IV fee appears as PAID, so usually within 2-4 days. And yes, unfortunately, the medical fees have increased due to additional testing for gonorrhea; however, it is only for those who are 15 years-old and older, so those younger than that will have the same amount as before.

My husband is already on his 7th week of sputum culture and no phone call yet (thank God). My husband was told not to contact SLEC about results until the 19th but since his 8th week will be next week my husband plans on contacting them either the 13th or 14th, and hopefully his results will be ready. I have already jumped the gun and scheduled his interview for the 24th, so my anxiety and excitement is building as the days wind down til then.

Hi JG long time no hear, my case is still stuck on review. nvc has slowed down with their processing of our petitions at least 6 weeks to review nowadays. Use the address from the bar-code cover sheet and don't hold your breath hoping to get done in a hurry. Nvc is roadblock city coming up with all kinds of excuses to slow you down

Check all of your documents 3x to make sure you don't want to make a mistake

Hi xmaricrix how are you doing good I hope

Hi teddy! I've been reading a lot of negative comments about NVC lately and how slowly they have been reviewing cases. I wonder what the heck is going on :ranting: That makes it even more important to re-check your documents multiple times JG before you send them out; getting a checklist seems to be a bigger nightmare now than it has been in the past.

That's horrible... I say you keep calling them every day until they give you your CC. This is just ridiculous how long you've been waiting for them to review your additional documents.

Well I was hoping for my wife and step son to have their visas by January or at least before our one year wedding anniversary (Feb 8th). I guess I wont get my hopes up.

There is still a possibility that they can get their visas in January, as long as you send the paperwork within the next week or two. Just go over everything to make sure you're not missing anything and that you signed every place that needs a signature. I'm praying that this will all be over soon for all of us!
