Got Job, Law / Rules for Medical Insurance in USA & Missouri...

Hi All,

Hope every one is doing great ! I am coming back to VJ after a long time. I havent been on Job for more than 10 Months, it was almost half of 2015 and 2016 I was without a job. But now by Gods grace I have got a good Job, already worked for more than a month as a W2 contractor.

My details are -- I am on Green Card, On Job, staying in Missouri and single.

My Question is:

What is the law for US & Missouri regarding Insurance ? Within how many days of joining the Job should I enroll in Insurance plan ? From here on I would be comfortably above 400% Poverty limit.

What are reasonable Insurance options in private companies or federal & State Insurance plans (however I do not want to declare unemployment period to get benefits). Please Advice ?

Please also suggest any good sites of Federal / State / and Medical Insurance Info & Plan comparison websites ?

Google Obamacare, exchange and your state. Sign up. Pay the fees, use the policy.

How long you have to sign up after starting employment is up to your company for insurance through them. As of right now you are required by the Federal Government to have health insurance or pay a penalty at the end of the year. For 2016 it is around $700. Healthcare.gov is your place to visit for information on insurance through the exchange. You can also google health insurance for private companies.

Does your employer offer health insurance? If so, you should find out about insurance they offer for you.

Otherwise, your options are to use the federal or state (if you have one) exchange. Or you can purchase health insurance privately from any company that offers it in your state. Either way prepare for sticker shock.
