A Religious MAN armed with a machete has been arrested during a vigil for the Nice terror attack.

Police search a man after making an arrest during a vigil in Nice

The man was reportedly armed with a large knife when he attended the vigil for the 84 victims of last night's massacre.

Police are said to have arrested the religious man quickly.

Eyewitnesses said he was carrying 'a machete'.

Others said people screamed and others were left in tears as police put the man in a police car.

Vigils are being held across France this evening as President Francois Hollande warned the death toll could rise with a further 50 victims in a critical condition.

France has declared three days of national mourning following the atrocity, which comes after attacks in November in Paris in which 130 died and in January 2015 that killed 17.
