28% of all Americans. There are few non-Republicans that have any doubt about Obama's birth place being Hawaii. Given that and given that Republicans make up maybe 40% of the population, a majority of them would have to have those doubts for that making up 28% of all Americans. Simple math but never were good at it.

You did notice the 53% being quoted directly from the news source. I did not make it up. And from the data provided, it's not hard to arrive at the quoted figure. Try and pay attention. I know it's hard sometimes but you'll have to do better than you have been thus far.
