It will depend on the officer adjudicating your case. Some will ask more info on the website you met, some won't.

Exactly this. Some people might get an RFE, while others won't. Personally, we meet online on a friendship website and didn't receive an RFE.

I've been reading that a lot of couples get RFE's for meeting on a website and they need to show proof that this website isn't a marriage broker site. This makes me so angry because I could have easily provided the Terms of Use for the site my fiance and I used had I known the USCIS would've wanted this information to start with. :ranting: However, the website we used wasn't a dating website at all. It's a website that connects people who are learning foreign languages. Does the USCIS RFE everyone who meets online? Are there any couples who didn't get an RFE for this?

Nope. My husband and I met online and even with having many so called "red flags" we never at any point during the process received an RFE. He just applied for citizenship.

I also think that depends on the beneficiary's country, as IMBRA is more common in some countries than others.

OP, your RFE is a quick fix, just print out the terms and conditions and send in. It's not gonna slow down your petition that much.

We were very objective with our answer and only used the lines (3 little ones?) provided in the i129f. We wrote we met online in month, year. Met in person in month year.

What might have helped us was that we had a document attached "proof of meeting and ongoing relationship", there we put boarding passes, pictures, a few messaged, FaceTime screenshots, all dated and detailed. But we never mentioned which website we met, it's long gone and we wouldn't be able to get the tos or contact them. We were lucky

It is really not the website, it is more a matter of the country of the beneficary or little proof of relationship

If the officer working on the case has suspensions, he/she can ask anything they wantto

some have to prove that the beneficary has no relatives in the US to show the applicant is not doing the application for money or for a friend

funny thing is i couldn't prove how i met my late husband here in the US or the date we met

My fiancé and I met on Facebook, which I stated in our petition. We got an RFE. They wanted to know exactly "how" we connected on FB. Through which mutual friends and how it happened. They also were really uptight about that at my fiancé's interview last week. They wanted the exact names of the mututal friends we met through. I think it is because of our age and cultural differences.

My God, is this a problem too? Is there anything in this world that is not a red flag for these guys?

I met my fiancee through a phone app called 9chat, tool for the website 9gag. Now that app is called Cookie.

We sent each one a 3 page letter detailing our relationship. We explained that 9chat is a cultural exchange website. We have even print screens of our first conversation there, which we sent. But we did not included terms of use. Do you think we might get a RFE?

And what is a marriage broker? Please enlighten me.

It's an agency which you pay for them to get you a foreign spouse of an specific country.

They're businesses that bring foreign men (predominantly conservative white men from English-speaking countries, primarily America) to find wives in other countries (typically developing countries). Men will fly to these countries and go to these gatherings or locales where they meet women who want to marry foreign men.

You're overreacting at every new post here, you'll go crazy at this rate while you wait. Do yourself a favor and relax. You said so yourself you sent an explanation about the site, you're most likely in the clear.

Yes I am, sorry I'm anxious, I'm just trying to vent off here.

But regardless of that, my posts are based on the fact that I disagree with pretty much everything about US immigration. Don't blame, I work with law, it's like an instinct.

Nonetheless I'm doing every exactly like USCIS and DOS ask.

Don't worry, I understand you! What I hate about this process is that these little bits and pieces are only found if you find forums like this. Many of these details are not outlined in the I-129f instructions. If the USCIS could just be explicit about what they're looking for, they'd save everyone a lot of time and headache.

Thank you! I just feel the process is too subjective. They should specify what they want, list objective requirements and make it possible to appeal after an interview, if needed. This would save time and headache both for us and them...
