CLEVELAND A night highlighting the tragedy in Benghazi, Libya. An appearance by onetime football star Tim Tebow. A presentation detailing former President Bill Clintons sexual misconduct.

Donald J. Trump, the presumptive nominee, has been promising a different kind of Republican National Convention, and plans obtained by The New York Times show that he is eager to put his showbiz stamp on the partys gathering, even as he struggles to attract A-list talent.

The roster of speakers obtained by The Times, and confirmed by two people with direct knowledge of the convention planning, reveals a lineup lacking many of the partys rising stars. Instead, it features some of Mr. Trumps eclectic collection of friends, celebrities and relatives, from his Slovenian supermodel wife to professional golfer Natalie Gulbis.

The parade of people seems to have been selected to broaden Mr. Trumps demographic reach.

Will Melania be allowed to speak. Trump was visiting Pence with his kids, minus Melania, in an effort to appear "American". Photos taken down from main website on the Daily Mail, an hour ago, and no comments allowed on the site on later reports. Hmmm.

Interesting aside, Christie was the prosecutor who sent Jared's father to jail, so I think he won't be announce as VP on Friday....

Donald Trump should create a buzz in the sports world next week when former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, along with other popular sports figures, speaks at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Having Tebows name on the program, which was released Wednesday, is a relief for Trump after he struck out on many of the professional athletes and A-list celebrities he suggested would be attending the convention and speaking on his behalf. NFL star quarterbacks Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger were both rumored to give speeches at the convention, but neither will make an appearance.

Trump will now have to rely on Tebow to make up for those losses. Tebow recently suggested he would consider pursuing politics, with his future in the NFL looking particularly bleak.

You know, I dont know in this time in my life, but if theres a chance you can make a difference some day in something, then that would be intriguing, Tebow said at his charity golf event in March.

Trump can only hope Tebow will deliver a speech as powerful as the one he did after Florida suffered a heartbreaking loss to Ole Miss in 2008.
