I-130 Approved - What exactly does this mean?

So I just checked the case status for my wife and step son on the USCIS site and here is what it said for both my wife and step son:

Case Was Approved

On July 8, 2016, we approved your Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, Receipt Number xxxxxxx. We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

What exactly does this mean? Does this mean the cases will now go to the NVC? I don't want to get my hopes up or be too overly optimistic because I thought this was supposed to take at least 5 months but it has been less than 2. Should I start getting ready for the next steps now? I have not recieved anything in the mail yet but I'm assuming I will in the next few days.

It means your petition has been approved and will next be forwarded to NVC for the next phase

So when I get the letter in the mail is that the NOA2? I didn't expect this to happen so quickly (not complaining) because I was figuring at least 5 months. A weight has been takien offmy shoulders now that I know I didn't mess up on the I-130s and have any RFEs. So now I need to start working on what I need for AOS?

Can anyone give a rough estimate of about how long the NVC phase wil take assuming I have all the documents I need and submit them as soon as possible. I was thinking this whole process would take about a year but being that we got our NOA2 so quickly maybe it will be sooner and I need to get in gear here and get thing ready not only for the visa but making plans to get my wife and step son here. I was going to go visit my wife in October but I might hold off and save the money depending on how quickly this process might go.
