How long to mail SS Card?

Hello Everyone!

So we applied for our social security card on June 27 and hadn't received it yet so we called the local office.

They told us it had been processed and sent out on the 29th and should arrive this week.

I am just a little concerned because if it was sent out on the 29th it really should have already arrived since that was 14 days ago, right?

Most people seemed to have gotten theirs within a week to 10 days from their application date, so I am worried it got lost in the mail.

Any suggestions? Should I just try telling them it got lost in the mail?

I'd try and talk to your mail person first, if he maybe came across something addressed to you, and give out the full name. Maybe ask if there's a way of checking with your local post office.

If there's no positive answer in these inquiries, I'd go back to the ss office and request a new card to be sent.

I was going to try and stop at the post office later today, as I think the issue is probably because I am the USC and MY name is on my mailbox but my fiance's (the immigrant) is not.

Unfortunately my landlord won't add his name to the mailbox until he is on the lease, and they won't add him to the lease without his social security number..

Yep, that's most likely what happened. They may still be holding onto the mail at the post office as it was probably undeliverable. I'd suggest you and your fiancee both go and bring some ID. Usually, after a certain amount of days, the mail is returned to sender so I'd go as soon as possible.

When I've had issues with mail, I've talked to the post office and specifically my carrier. The carrier would often look for the piece and find it. But these days, the USPS contracts out so many carrier spots, our neighborhood has random people each day, in basketball shorts and t-shirts, driving their own beat up car and the mail is a mess. If you are so lucky to have a regular, real carrier, you might get somewhere telling him what is missing and to put your husband on the list he has in his head about who lives at your address.
