So, after 2 months from when USCIS London received our I130 we have finally received something back (we never received a noa1 or confirmation email).

It is a bit confusing as they are asking for additional evidence and the box that is checked on the letter says they require a copy of the marriage certificate. We DID include a copy of the marriage certificate with the original application so the only thing we can think of is that the copy was over 2 pages, rather than all on one page as the size of the certificate was bigger than standard UK page sizes (from Colorado). I was wondering if it was worth contacting them for clarification?

Does anyone know roughly how long they take to process these additional requests? Does it put us to the back of the queue e.g. will be have to wait another 2 months for a response or will they process our response when they received it? This could have a big impact on our timelines.

thanks

It's possible that it's the two pages, though the US embassy should be familiar with a US marriage cert. It is also possible they lost it.

My divorce certificate was 'lost' and we had a RFE for it.

My knew it was in our packet as we photocopied everything and did a tick box list which we both checked.

So my wife called and eventually got through, and suprise suprise the 'missing' item was in our packet!!

It's amazing how much stuff gets "lost".

I would just send what they are asking, despite the fact that you have sent it. Can you scale it down a little so it fits on one page? It's only a copy after all.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

I will make a full size copy at work tomorrow. I am also wondering if they don't realise it is a recorded copy of the certificate as they say it has to be recorded. Our certificate has the date and barcode of when it was recorded at the bottom, and I also checked the copy on the colorado state website and it is exactly the same, so I really don't know. I don't understand why they are not more specific with the letters.

Just hoping the delay is only days or weeks, rather than months...

If you're doing DCF through London, your delay is likely to be very short. We got an RFE when we were doing DCF and it took a grand total of a week from submission until we got our NOA2.

Agreed with Killary our RFE only added 9 days and we then received our LDN number.

thanks, that looks promising then. We have responded already with a high quality copy of our marriage certificate all on one page... lets hope thats enough although its a bit of a guessing game as they are not clear with exactly what was missing.
