Two questions, A# and AOS cover letter...

Hi y'all! I have two very simple and stupid questions, but can't search for them. So I turn to you.

#1. Where do I find Craig's A# if we never received an NOA2? It's gotta be on something else? Is it on his K1? If so, where?

#2. I'm writing the AOS cover letter, who is this from? Am I petition for him (therefore I sign the cover letter) or does he petition for himself? I'm assuming since he fills out the 485, it's him. But I'm not for sure.

Thanks kids! :)

Thank you! :)

So is the Non-Immigrant Visa # the same as the Alien #? Because that's all I see it pointing out on the visa photo. And I don't see anything about it in the guide you linked me to in the second link.

6.2.1)...(newsgroup)...I-485 - Adjustment of status.... I am asked for my Nonimmigrant visa number, is this the one under the control number or is it the one at the bottom of the visa ??

A..(newsgroup)...On the adjustment of status forms, there is a box for the visa number. This is the red number printed on the K-1, not the visa control number. I know this because the interviewer went over the forms in front of us, and crossed out what I wrote in there (the visa control number) and replaced it with the red number.(Note: this is on the lower right side, under the "expiry date". It is not the long number written along the bottom edge of the visa.)

What will you do about the NOA2? Have others had problems by not having it?

Alright, I'm obviously dense, because I'm not getting what you are trying to tell me.

I see on the first page of the I-485, it asks for the A#, which I know is on the NOA2 (which we don't have) from the I-129f. On the second page is where it asks for the Nonimmigrant Visa Number, which I have found just fine on Craig's K1. What I'm confused about is where to find the A#, not the Nonimmigrant Visa Number, unless they are the same thing. But that wouldn't make sense considering they ask for them both on the same form.

I'm trying to see what other place I can get Craig's A# in place of the NOA2 from our I-129f petition.

Sorry to be so slow!

:star: Cass (bebop the great)

ETA: We are going to attempt to send in our NVC letter, Online approval notice, and email approval notice, with a letter explaining we never received our NOA2. I've heard it going both ways (getting RFEs and not). So we'll see. If we get an RFE, we'll just have to pay the $200 to get the reissue, and in most cases they'll take the NOA1 from the reissue application as sign that you have an NOA2.

I don't think all consulates put the A# on the visa.

I'm not sure about Canada.

But if it's on there, its going to start with an A followed by 8 digits.

On my husbands visa (issued at London) the sequence is A## ### ###.

Yeah, because we couldn't find anything that was called an alien anything on the visa, much less anything that was in the normal format of an A#. I heard that they are supposed to hand write it on your I-94, but the only thing written on there is the expiration date.

Cass,

If you can't find the A# then just write 'unknown' in response to that question. This is not a show-stopping question.

It doesn't make any difference who signs the cover letter, or if it's signed at all. The cover letter is 'fluff', there doesn't need to be one anyway.

You should be able to see his A# on your NOA1 from your I-129F petition. My A# was on mine, right above my name. And it clearly has A######## - so this should be what you are looking for. Oh, and congrats on the wedding!
