Green Card holder working in canada

Hi,

I'm a Canadian citizen, my fiance is a US citizen. My fiance can't live in Canada therefore the only option is for me is to live in US. I have this great job in Windsor and i love living in Detroit so life is perfect at this point.

my question is can a green card holder living in the US (meaning renting a house in US, paying bills in US, has a US driver license, a US car, a US bank account, Sleep in US, pay US taxes) and commute to Canada for work on a daily basis without losing the green card status ?

I'm thinking of crossing the border to Canada every day at 7 am and come back to US at 5 pm.

I will give up my Ontario health care, driver license and everything shows that I'm a Canadian residence. but I will still have my Canadian bank account for my salary but again my billing address will be the US address.

It will work for a Canadian citizen and even a US citizen with a Canadian work visa, but not for any other US LPR.

How about a US LPR with a canadian work visa? And if not, why not?

How about a US LPR with a canadian work visa? And if not, why not?

I think it depends on the conditions of the work visa. You cant be a Canadian resident and a US resident.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Will need to look into that when it becomes a more pressing issue I guess. Would've made my career future more promising if I could work across the border also...

Are you sure that Canadian citizens who are also US LPR can commute back to Canada every day for work without risking losing the green card ?

Yea other people on the board do it. You need to be sure you're deemed a non-resident on your taxes with that company, and will have to file tax returns in both countries as well.
