Hi VJers,

While I'm waiting for my greencard, I decided to this first. So, the Philippine Consulate will have a Consular Outreach in Las Vegas by September 24-25. How can we participate in this and reporting our marriage? Walk in basis? If there is a need for an appointment, how can we schedule? Any input is appreciated :)

All you want to do is ROM? That can be done by mail, no personal attendance needed.

There is no walk-in for an outreach event, you must schedule an appointment for the event. Contact the cosulate to schedule

No need to attend an outreach just to complete your ROM. Head on over to the LA Embassy for the Philippines and download the documents and follow the instructions. Should take about 30-45 days before you get a return response that the ROM has been completed. Easy Peasy.

Thing is, we don't want to go to LA (no gas money - lol) and when we send it by mail, it needs to get notarized. It would cost like $100+ :(

How can we schedule and appointment? Just call? What's the number?

And another thing, we only have 2 witnesses during our marriage. Both of which are on the husband's side and no witness for me. What should I write there? The ROM form has 4 blanks for witnesses :|

Write in the two witness's you need any on your side so don't worry about that portion.

You don't have to go to LA. You take your documents on signed to your bank and they will notarize your documents and then you slip it into an envelope, lick the envelope and close and attach the proper postage and drop it in the mail box. 30-45 days later you have your ROM. Most of here have done it that way so your not alone and it has proven history. You can do this.

Got any suggestions for a cheap notary public :(

Write in the two witness's you need any on your side so don't worry about that portion.

So just leave mine blank? Then add in the two witnesses (parents of hubby) on his side? Did I get that right?

Go to your bank. They will do it for free usually. I bank with Wells Fargo and that is where I go for all my notary public requirements and they have never charged me.

Leave yours blank. When they look at your certificate of marriage they are going to see that it is also blank, hence no problem.

Your bank should notarize documents for free.

As for an appointment, go to the outreach page instructions should be there.

Just please step back and take a DEEP BREATH. This is not complicated AT ALL. Just follow the instructions that are on the Philippine Consulate LA website. I have literally just completed a ROM in June so I am well versed in what needs to get done. You can have your bank notarize your documents usually so you will have to check. I don't get how a using a notary ever costs $100+ for signing documents, the most I have ever paid is $10. But it will cost a fee when doing the ROM regardless if you use a outreach, if you mail it in, or go to the consulate.

Just follow the guides to mail it in to the LA Consulate. Just make sure you include a self addressed envelope or larger USPS priority to send the ROM back to you once they are done with it, that part is required by Consulate. The witnesses part on the ROM paperwork, I just filled out from our Marriage certificate who signed as witnesses, which was my sister and mother. Since her family could not attend. There is no need that they have to sign it, you just fill out their info.

Just for your record a ROM to the embassy in Washington DC after we went to the LA Consulate and they rejected us because we moved here from NC literally 5 days after we married in that state. The ROM process took about a month for us after we sent it in to get it back.

Yes. ROM must be completed THROUGH the consulate for the state where you were married.
