Hello everyone! We have question regarding changing my fiances name once she enters the US.

What is the process for this? What steps exactly must we take to do this? And about how long does it take to do?

Just her last name after we are married! Sorry!

Then once you get married and have the marriage certificate in hand, she can start using her new last name. She can go to the ss office with it and ask her name to be changed, some will change, some won't. They should though. If they don't want to, you can try in another ss office, or wait for her ead to come or the gc.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply! Is there a way to change it before the wedding? My fiancé said she has seen some postings on here of people changing their last name even before the wedding?

No she cannot change her name before the wedding. She needs the marriage certificate to change her name unless she wants to change it in court which costs $$.

Nope, as nlr said, if she wants to change before the wedding, itll cost a lot and she has to go through the court to do it. Also, it will take time.
