It is time for a collective reckoning, a moral accounting, a radical self-appraisal and calling out, fellow white Americans. Our explicit and implicit participation in crimes against black people has gone on for too long.

What allows us to justify murder? What selfish gene prevents us from intervening in the face of blatant injustice? What history of lies and distortions have we sold ourselves that keep us in our isolated boxes of superiority and denial? What truth would we have to tell about ourselves to unravel these strangulating tentacles of racism and violence?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

If you can, grab a copy of any high school history book. Browse through it when you have the time. Somewhere between Columbus day and Thanksgiving, you'll find the answer.

We know now that cops shoot blacks at a rate slightly below non-blacks, so we can put this to bed.

Today I see a video from miss alabama calling the dallas shooter a martyr. None of this is surprising to me. It's obvious a percentage of blacks are profoundly racist and blame whites for every ill in their life. That is the kind of racism that results in five cops being shot, and in others saying "Look, I get why he did it.".

The biggest problem facing the black community now is the black community. They are the ones who kill each other at the highest rates, they are the ones who have a break down in their social system; terribly low marriage rates, dropping out of school, etc. Asians don't have this problem. Latinos don't to the same extent, either. But neither of those groups continually scapegoat. When somebody is wrestling with police and he is armed and he gets shot and his community automatically assumes the cops were racist (and the shooter was a minority anyway), it's a joke, right?

Good luck!

If a muslim terrorist kills someone, we are told, all the way up to the Whitehouse, that it's not all "muslims"

But if a white cop kills a black person, all white folks are to blame.

Sadly but so true. I wonder how many lives have been lost because of the BLM racist agenda to date

I wish it was a joke , but sadly you described exactly what is going on. Good to hear from you. We feared we had lost you

this is your entire problem, the issue first and foremost is the use of excessive force. the automatic assumption was only that the cops did not have to sit on him and pump him full of lead.

if the black community needs to deal internally with violence within their community, why do you deny them this recourse in police violence? i've got a notion that blm doesn't fit into your assessment of the black community because you'd like to personally reserve the right to arm chair quarterback social issues within the black community and also dictate how the black community addresses those issues (at minimum, they should run their grievances by you first so you can ponder if they're legit.) and that's mighty white of ya.

.

Your right with his known violent past and reports he had a gun they should have drawn from a distance and order him to put his hands on his head and drop to the ground. If he did not comply or reached for his gun they should have shot him before approach. They risked their lives trying to wrestle him to the ground when they had reports his was armed and his was combative. Their compassion could have got them killed
