It Would Be Nice to Know Member Status [split topic]

If it matters that much I would think you would have their email. I think 4 people who have been on the board have either my email or facebook info.

People make new accounts all the time so im sure they could let ya know if they chose to.

Probably the only thing I agree on is if an account is closed it can say banned if that person is in fact banned or closed if they chose to ask for the account to be closed.

You do know making a dual account is a big big no no Edited by Nature Boy Flair

I do get having inactive, suspended, banned, or closed as a status on member profiles however and agree with that being added to the forum. The reasoning, however, is either obvious (TOS violations) or private and imho doesnt require an explanation from mods.

I think that would be a positive addition to the board as well.

I think I see what you're saying now and I agree with tweaking status titles. I would suppose though that every forum has a different sort of setup. Whenever I would ban someone, their membership title would show 'banned', even if it was a temporary ban/suspension, it would still show the same title, because that's how the forum worked. And yes, I'd be more descriptive, because that's how we ran things on the forum. Only the user would know how long they were banned for, because when they'd try to log in, they'd receive a message saying the length of time remaining. Temporary suspensions were limited to a three strike policy, so a message would be left on the post stating that they were banned,/suspended and what strike they were on.

Yes, that was the type of set up the other boards I was on had where the custom title was changed to show the member status. If that type of system could be implemented, that would be great. But I would settle for a mere explanation of what action was taken by a mod right in thread where the infraction took place. When the mods delete the offending posts and don't give an explanation of what happened, it really is counter productive.

That I agree on. Also you can rock along doing the same thing for months, then one day out of the blue you get nailed for it. Sometimes when I see "mod action taken" I immediately wonder if it was me. It's like a horror movie in which your fiends disappear in the middle of the night, or a guard takes them away in the middle of the night, while everyone wonders who is next and what happened. It's hard to know what is going to set them off if you never know what did . I just stick to the middle of the road, joke around and make friends with everyone and try to never say anything that can't be taken 4 ways.

I may run for office.

It's purposely set up this way to allow the mods free reign. One day what you're doing could be cool and the next it could be a bannable offense, it all depends on the posters & mods involved. But we've beat that horse to death and it's not gonna change.

Would you agree that it has gotten much better?
