In the left sidebar, under the picture and the hearts, see "Group." If it says "Closed," that's an indication of a voluntary or involuntary departure. In addition, the member's name might not be a live link any longer.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We need a running thread for the mods to update members status so we know who got the boot and who's on a forced hiatus.

The cheap members should pony up for the platinum plan. Mods got to eat

It would be good to know if it was forced or voluntary. Or if someone is banned, let us know for how long.

I think a key is don't debate with people that can't have a impassioned debate, without getting Uber offended and reporting you. Most of us know who they are. Also most of us long timers respect each other and although we do pick at each other with furvorTruly enjoy and respect each other, even for those we disagree with the most. For the most part the mods have been doing fairly well in giving us latitude. The recent racial tensions and elections have stirred some passions, but at the end of the day if you can laugh at your own weirdness and short comings your not going to be offended by others weirdness and short comings.

No. Admin action is not for the public, it is between the mod team and the member concerned.

Imho if you want to know something about a member, they can choose to tell you. But then you'd actually have to know them like via email, phone, facebook, etc... it's not up the mods to tell you why they have moderated someone else.

I don't necessarily care about the details of anyone getting suspended or banned, nor is that what I am referring to. It would be prudent for the other members to know when someone is either suspended or perma banned. When members accounts are closed by the mods or when members disappear for a period of time due to suspension for whatever reason, most of the other members do not know why and it would be helpful to know if it was due to moderator action or simply because the member left the board. Most folks here do not know the other members personal info so that isn't really an option. Also, when a member is suspended, they lose their pm privilege as well so there is no way to contact other members unless they have someone's personal info.

Having been both a moderator and admin on other boards, this was always explained in the thread when mod/admin action was taken on members. Instead of simply stating that "administrative action has been taken" (or this silly one) "draconian measures have been taken against one or more members", how about saying "Admin action has been taken against (insert member name here)". Or "so and so" has been thread banned. It would be much more helpful to the other members of the board to know what's going on rather than being left in the dark. There really is no reason not to disclose this info.

If it matters that much I would think you would have their email. I think 4 people who have been on the board have either my email or facebook info.

People make new accounts all the time so im sure they could let ya know if they chose to.

Probably the only thing I agree on is if an account is closed it can say banned if that person is in fact banned or closed if they chose to ask for the account to be closed.

Teddy, I suppose a moderator could ask why is it so important for a member to know that a member is banned/suspended. You can already tell when a member has been banned by seeing their username is blacked out/unclickable. I would agree as a former mod and admin elsewhere, I would generally be more descriptive in explaining... but that all comes down to style and policy rules that the moderator also must adhere to.

It matters for discussion purposes on the board and it will also give insight to the other members of what is and what isn't a bannable/suspendable offense and how the moderators operate. We have been asking for this kind of transparency for a long time now. I shouldn't have to know someone's personal info to want to know their status on the board. I would imagine that your being an organizer on the board that you would be privy to this info anyway. Perhaps if you didn't have access to it, your view may be different?

Yuna, one cannot presently tell if a member has been banned or left of their own volition by their account showing as being closed, it simply states the account is closed. A poster could simply close their account and leave the board, or they could close their account and open another account under a different name and post as a different person, which is also deceptive. Also one cannot tell if a member has been suspended, because their account does not get closed for a suspension. The bolded part of your post is all I would like to see.

I do not have access to that information. I can move entire threads, and have a larger inbox, that's it.

I do get having inactive, suspended, banned, or closed as a status on member profiles however and agree with that being added to the forum. The reasoning, however, is either obvious (TOS violations) or private and imho doesnt require an explanation from mods.
