Too be fair, the staff at these joints have a great sense of fashion. Currently I am buying 4 dollar ice coffee lattes from this hip coffee shop, open 3days a week. The Japanese owner has a beard, wears shorts with colourful long socks and purple DMs. He also wears a red kangol hat upon occasion . Today he said "it's hot, isn't it" . Immediate swoon.

I can see that.

I went to a Christie's brunch and they served doughnuts and coffee in an attempt to be hip. Lots of disgruntled dealers ....

the Govenor has a brunch? In Newark?

Oh, and artisanal yada yada .

Je voudrais un croissant

I agree and I kinda feel the same way about high fashion in a sense, or wine. There's a really "fancy" place up the street from us with mostly food that we can't even pronounce. We went in there one day just to check it out, looked at the menu got up and left. Just for kicks, here is a link to the menu just curious to see if anyone here would have actually eaten there.

Like those people who shop for organic food or whole foods market?

Hey what's wrong with organic? we do alot of organics. Most of it is alot better for you. I don't think you can really compare that to the kind of stuff the op is about. Mind you that doesn't mean everything has to be organic, some thing are more important than others, but we do try for the most part with fruits and vegetables and have done nothing but organic eggs and milk for years now (btw they do actually taste better), and a few other things that we get organic. Organic doesn't have to be really expensive, either. You can get organic pasta for really cheap at Trader Joes for instance, cheaper than most non-organic pasta in most stores. We actually used to shop at whole foods back in WI but we don't have one here so we get what organic we can from the stores we do have like hannaford, shaws and trader joes.

Darn that menu is geared to someone who is easy prey for tend words. Yuck.

lol wasn't our kind of food, but the place is doing well so I'm assuming there's demand.

What's your kind of food? That menu appears to hit all the basics, Beef, Chicken, Seafood & a wide variety of soups, veggies and cheeses.

I would like to try this dish:

Watermelon Glazed Scallops

Rhode Island Day Boat Scallops, Glazed with Cold Pressed Watermelon, Mint & Honey Glaze,, Sautéed Baby Spinach, Thai Basil Sticky Rice Cake with Fets, Mint & Watermelon Salad

Well that kind of depends. For the most part we don't tend to like seafood, and very picky with meat. Neither of us usually does anything more than beef, my wife does chicken I don't. And like I said we don't tend to eat all that "fancy" stuff we can't even pronounce. No duck Pate thank you. We like alot of Italian, asian and middle eastern.

I agree. What bothers me a little is that this menu is all over the place. Not a good sign typically.

That's what Robert Irvine would tell ya ;) You'd find that in VT in many places though there's huge menus. I was shocked at first too, but there's a restaurant here we do actually like, you'll see that the menu is also huge, yet everything is always exceptional.

Both this one and the other one are always packed.
