 Just called the Department of State and they said the my fiancé has an interview date of April 17, 2007!!!

The Department of State Visa Reps will tell you what they know about the case such as:

  1. If the Medical Exam has reached the Embassy
  2. If your fiancé is eligible for an interview (after the medical has been received)
  3. If an interview date has been scheduled

All you will need is the NVC case number and the name of the applicant.

Their phone number is 202-663-1225. There is about 5 minutes worth of options before you get to a person. From the automated prompts, dial "1" then "0" then "0"

The people at the Department of State are very friendly and helpful. ^_^

This will not replace Packet 4, but it sure beats waiting for the mail!!!

So when you call the D.S. they have the info whether your fiance passed the medical exam and if they have an interview day scheduled already? Do all US embassy's have the same computer system or something?

The Dept of State won't specifically tell you if they passed the medical, but passing the medical is contingent upon whether or not an applicant is eligible for an interview. They will say, "Your Fiancé is or is/not eligible for an interview" They won't have this info until after the medical is received.

Answer to the second question is "YES"

The Dept. of State has access to the Visa Records of all the U.S. Embassies! It is linked to your NVC case number.

They are awesome!
