Evidence help??

Hi guys.

My fiancee and I are getting married tomorrow! (YAAYY!)
I'm beginning to put together the paperwork for AOS but I have questions about the evidence. How much stuff would we have to submit right now?

We haven't collected much evidence since I got here (mostly just a few pictures). Because her apartment is near a college campus they charge rent as if it was a dorm, so you pay per person and not per unit. So for her to add me to her lease that would double her rent (as i'm not able to help paying for it until I get a job). So we don't have any shared utilities or anything like that yet but it would be coming by the time I get a job.

What kind of evidence should we submit other than the marriage license and pictures of the wedding?

First at all congrats on getting Married. I say send as much evidence as you can, we did everything ourselves and in 2 months we have a schedule already for the green card.

send photos, wedding receipts, try to put her right away in your health insurance, letters or cards you have sent to each other, i really think our case went fast because all the things we sent... anyways best of luck

Not necessary to send all of that (but OK to do so of course). A whole bunch of K1 AOS'ers are getting their cards fast and even without an interview, without sending any proof.

Waiting time for an interview depends mostly on where you live, since that is handled by your local office and they can have varying degrees of backlog.

The only requirement for proof of marriage with the initial filing of the I-485 is a copy of your marriage certificate. IF you should happen to get an interview, then take any co-mingling of finances and co-habitation documentation with you.

Everythings been a whirlwind since the wedding. But hopefully we can get the forms filled and mailed in with some evidence real soon!

Do what feels best for you. We sent in what we had: auto- and health insurance in both names and lease in both names. It surely doesn't hurt. We were approved without an interview. Sure some get approved without interview and they didn't send any in.

Thanks guys. We don't have any legal or financial evidence yet. But we're sending in photos of the wedding, a photocopy of a card that we got to congratulate us on the marriage and other random things that we've run across (photo booth mementos, conversations, call logs, etc)
