Hi everyone,

The interview could be expected to go by relatively quickly or could potentially take hours waiting..

My interview is scheduled in Sydney at 8.45am. I am from QLD and need to fly back that same day. I am hoping I will be out of the consulate no later than 12pm. Would it be safe to book a flight for 2pm home or is that too much a risk? That gives me just under 5 hours from my interview time to when I must get to airport for check in. Would 4pm flight out be safer? I have no idea what a safe time-frame would be to allow myself.

Would love any comments from anyone with experience doing this.

Thanks

When is your interview? Mine is at 8:15 in the morning, from QLD as well, I'm flying in the day before because I know what Sydney traffic is like at that time of the morning. The afternoon is the same. I have my flight out booked at 2pm, I wasn't concentrating when I booked return flight, but like you I'm hoping I should have enough time. I think I should be safe, from what I've read the longest someone has been in there is 3 hours...fingers crossed anyways lol!

My interview is scheduled 30th August at 8:45am. It was originally 8:15am but I changed it because my flight would arrive at 7:30am. I really would like the 2pm-ish thing to work for me, but I know would prefer to lose time rather than the cost of buying a new flight/change fees if things did not go as planned!

Understand totally, I regret having booked that flight but oh well...that's what it is now, mainly cause I don't want to pay the extra to change either, so I guess I will see how I go.

Hi guys, I don't know about the interview times but, I think the best way for you to get from the airport to Martin Place and back would be via train. St James Station is approx 10 minute walk to Martin Place and from there it goes directly to the Airport. There are a lot of road works going on atm in Sydney CBD so the traffic is horrendous and could cause delays.

Quick questions for you though. Can you schedule the interview at the date/time for a more suitable day yourself, or are you given a day and time by the consulate???

Hi :)

I have mine for around the same time. I booked a flight back to Brisbane around 7pm just in-case there is any traffic.

After you recieve your passport do you mind telling me how many days it took you to receive your passport? I have heard that it's closer to 2 weeks at the moment instead of the usual 3 days

Omg! I hope it's not taking up to 2 weeks to get passports back...I was hoping to leave the following week after my interview! <_<

Hi everyone, so I had my interview on Tues. I was in the building by around 8:20am and out by around 9:40am... Really fast, I was surprised.

I had booked the 5pm flight, just to be safe.. I lingered around the city a bit before I headed back to the airport. I couldn't change to the 2pm flight at the airport unless I paid around $300 so I just sucked it up and waited. I managed to leech 5 hours of netflix before the qantas wifi stopped working so it wasn't too bad.

Now I am just waiting on my passport and package to be sent to me. They said it should be sent off within a few days. I will update when this happens!
