Driving Vacation Into Canada

My husband and I will be going on vacation at the end of the month. We plan on driving through the Upper Peninsula (Michigan) to enter Canada then head down to Toronto and Niagara Falls (where we will probably cross the border again--maybe by foot). We anticipate our final entry back into the US will be through Detroit. Before we leave, I just wanted to confirm we won't need anything extra for him to cross the border. It appears that an eTA is only required when traveling via plane. Is that correct? If so, is it safe to say that his passport and green card will be sufficient for our road trip?

Yes been to Canada while I was still a permanent resident and all I needed was my green card, no passport necessary since you're travelling by land. You only need your passport if you travel by plane. Of course whoever is driving needs a valid US driver's license.

My wife and I crossed into Canada at Niagara Falls last week. She has her green card and here passport with her maiden name. We had no problems entering Canada or re-entering the US.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping. We both have valid driver's licenses, so we should be okay for driving!

Thanks for the link. I had found that originally. We printed the page to take with us that shows the regulation, but I still like knowing others have gone through the experience and have had no problems.
