My wife's Naturalization oath is on a Thursday in a couple of weeks. Her plan is, on the Friday after, to update her status with the SSA, then register to vote (if she can't do so right after the ceremony), then file for her U.S. passport last since they will take away the certificate for a few weeks. She seems to remember reading somewhere that she should wait 10 days before doing something. She thinks it's register to vote; I say it isn't, but I don't know what it is either.

Does anyone know what it might be?

It wouldn't be an issue but her ceremony is 9 days before the voter registration cutoff in Florida for the (non-Presidential) Primary.

You can register to vote and apply for a U.S passport right after the Oath Ceremony. Updating Social Security record, you might need to wait at least 10 days (I updated for my parents after 1 week) because Social Security Administration office wil need to check your U.S citizen record with USCIS, and USCIS needs time to update your record to their system. That explained 10 days waiting time. With voting, you can ask a voting clerk at your county, I believe that they might have some exceptions for those who recently naturalized. My county does, so good luck on that.

OK, thanks! That makes sense, like the suggestion to wait 10 days after POE on the K-1 before applying for the SSN. I'll tell her to save herself the trip to the SSA for the time being.

As far as registering to vote, when I registered in the 90's (same county), I never had to show "proof" of citizenship, other than swearing that I am a USC, along with being 18+, not a felon, and living where I say I do by signing the form. I didn't have a passport yet and I know I didn't show my BC back then. I looked at the current form and it still asks for nothing more than FL DL/ID to prove residence in the county, along with the same "by signing, you swear you are USC, etc., etc., 3rd degree felony, etc., etc....". I don't think she'll need to show it to register either but I also know that things have changed since then so who knows? Either way, she should be able to do so at some point during those 9 days after she takes the oath.
