Part 9 of N-400 after staying overseas

Hi guys.

How do I fill this part if before coming to USA We were residing in Germany on military orders and I was going back home to Russia from Germany a few times? is the whole Germany stay considered "a trip"? Or only trips to Russia from there would be considered "trips"? what days should I count?

I believe only trips to Russia count as abroad. But I would attach an explanation about being in Germany on military orders with a copy of those orders.

I was advised to put only the trips outside Germany since being stationed in Germany counts as being in the US. Just make sure you include a copy of the orders with your name on it.
