I-751 July 2016 Filers

For what it may be worth, our I-751 based extension letter expires on September 15th 2017 and on Monday August 7th we were able to get an I-551 stamp for a further one year extension from that date.   We explained to the USCIS officer that we are travelling out of the country within the next few weeks and would be returning a few days after the letter expired.  After the officer reviewed the data for our case he said there are no issues other than the CSC delay, and gave us the I-551 stamp without looking at any airline tickets or other documentation we'd brought along.

 

Regarding the current very slow I-751 movement at CSC, I suspect that you cannot extrapolate from that lack of progress to predict when your case will be done.  I imagine they work on whatever kind of case is most behind, with near zero progress on other kinds of cases like the I-751s.  Then when they finally get to the I-751s (whenever that may be) progress will be much quicker than it has been.   It's good to see yellow turn to green anyway.

I finally got my official letter in the mail yesterday (Aug 10) saying I was approved on Aug 4. Best of luck everyone, especially the CSC people...

They could well be going through an audit in the CSC and not the VSC or any other regional center. They could also be having the VSC going full steam so nobody says they are slowing down. It may also have to do with the RAISE act as they may be trying to avoid a flood of extended family applications before they pass the law in congress. 

Maybe be who knows? I have conceded to a point where it is just going to take another year. Low expectations here.

Get an attorney to file a "mandamus" for you. It will cost you $5K and it is not 100% guaranteed.

Hi everyone, long time lurker here. Filed last July 2016 (VSC) got an RFE sometime in early June 2017 and sent it back almost a month ago July 15 2017. My question is anybody here in the same boat as me?(VSC, still waiting after RFE). It feels like almost everyone from July 2016 VSC has been approved already and I am so annoyed with my anxiety as it is making me worried for no reason.

It does make me wonder how many adjudicators they actually have working there. If they only processed 5 day's worth of applicants in 30 days, that means it takes them 6 days to process 1 day's worth of cases.

I really don't see any point in speculating any longer. CSC is slow and that's just the way it is. Green card holders are still legal until their status is adjudicated and people can still apply for citizenship prior to the 3 month anniversary of their card. So what's the worry? At least couples can be together now, unlike during the I-130 process....

The volume also needs to be taken into consideration. VSC may have a better ratio of number of cases per officer than CSC as they may not be transferring cases out of CSC and not bringing new officers in.

I've seen mandamus working before but it is only worth in extreme cases.

Well, let's not forget that there could be some people just waiting their 10-year LPR to be able to apply to extended family which in turn are also waiting and will be waiting for even longer in some cases...
