I don't want to take up space replying to everyone separately, so I'll just put it here. Thank you to everyone who has answered my concerns about the I-551 stamp. I was confused about whether it was required or not, and you've all answered my question - so thank you!

You're welcome but I think it is important to reiterate that depending on your situation and need it is possible to get away without it but nevertheless the recommendation is to get the I-551 anyways if possible. I just wouldn't travel across the country to get that so if you have time and patience to wait for an Infopass appointment locally, keep trying to get one.

I happened to check my Facebook page, i posted a video on Visa Journey this January talking about CSC being so jammed up.  Back in January, CSC was at last mid Ma, wow, and now they are at June 15th last year 7 months later. So it took 7 months just to move 1 month? So it will take a whole year to move 2 months worth of applications if this slow rate continues, then they won't approve any of the July filers until next Feb, and they will start touching August filers next August, lol. Wow, one more year, and VSC will be way ahead of us by next summer. That is why i was liked "  Fxxk IT", and decide to file 400 when I am eligible which is tomorrow actually, but my lawyer told me to wait for a few days to avoid USCIS' own incompetence and confusions because sometimes they can be confused themselves and falsely think you file too early even though you use their USCIS early filing calculator, so we will file a week from today, they want to combine the both and adjudicate it both, fine by me because my ultimate goal is the citizenship, but this is crazy.

Do you have a state ID? If you had a driving license for example you'd not need anything. If you don't have any valid state document, you'll need the passport but I don't think you should travel with an expired GC (or extension letter).

best suggestion, get a state ID so that you are always good for domestic travel.

Agreed, always good for domestic travel but not free from questioning according to my own experience. But nothing like secondary inspection or anything like that.

Just a few months ago I was grateful to be filing at CSC since they seem to be doing things faster than VSC. I hate them now.

That's all you need. Bring your passport too but keep it in the bag and do not show it :) Your government issue state ID will do for all your domestic trips.

Flight safe!

Could that mean CSC is finally processing July pile? I wish, I hope..

Divorce waivers unfortunately are processed differently than normal applications. Not sure that his/her experience means much for normal filers. I do hope so for sure tho...

True, the one, the only July filer who was approved did file a divorce 751 waiver, you are probably and unfortunately right.

I think the services centers go through cycles. CSC has generally been faster than VSC, but it runs into speed bumps every once in a while.

I remember CSC came to a halt for lots of applications when all of the DACA applications started getting filed. At that time, Vermont just kept trucking along, and everyone that filed at CSC wished their files were at VSC. People were also talking about class action lawsuits, starting "We the People" petitions, and contacting their representatives and the ombudsman. I think the pace at CSC was over two years per application IIRC at that time, and it lasted for months. It was unbearable for a lot of people. Then all of a sudden, CSC just started approving applications at lightning-fast speeds. It was like they never stopped at all.

It feels like the same thing to me now, and I don't believe this pace will continue for much longer.

Maybe they are trying to weed out people who just want their green cards without being willing to apply for 400. That is one way to make money off 400 applications and purposely and potentially forcing people to apply 400 on order to process the ones who really want to become citizens by combining the 2 applications into one. Maybe it is s type of purging from Trump administration. I will file 400 in 10 days. I am guessing if you apply for 400 and 751 is pending, they will combine it, and it will take however long 400 will take, and they will approve both, If you only want 751, then it will take about 2 years if you are a CSC filer.
