I see some people getting interviews within 2 months of applying. I'm at the Los Angeles county field office and still not "in line for interview". Might it really take a year for us?

As far as I know. N400 filed in California goes to a field office in Phoenix Arizona. According to the latest processing time updates, USCIS is processing cases from last July 26th, so it does seem to take a year or more for the interview to be scheduled. Just need to be patient and wait and wait unfortunately.

the drivers license links the face to a name but that is only half of it since you also need to link the name to work authorization. the extension letter would be that link however once it expires you need to get the passport stamp to act as work authorization. check out this link for what documents you need.

Called USCIS... officer said my case was assigned to an officer June 30th and should receive an answer soon. Case was filed July 19 2016.

she said your case is being audited (not sure why she used that term to refer to assigned)

How do you get those people to tell you these kind of info? I called and they said it's following the processing time so I should just wait. He couldn't tell me whether my case was assigned already. What's the trick ?

Hi All

Just came back from the infopass appointment. Here is my experience:

Date of Filing - 07/30/16

NOA 1 - 08/01/16

Biometrics - 08/31/16

Original GC expiration Date - 08/31/2016

Location of Infopass - Charlotte Field Office

Time : 8:30am

Documents seen: GC, Extension Letter and Passport

An olderly kind lady office at first mentioned that she will not be able to give me i551 stamp as I still have time until 08/31/2017. I showed her my driving license and explained that DMV and my employer both consider validity of the extension letter only upto 08/30/2017. She understood and gave me a stamp on my passport which shows Employment Authorisation until 07/02/2018. My original GC and 1 year extension letter was returned.

Few additional information shared:

- My case is still being reviewed at VSC, no decision has been taken yet

- It could take additional 2 to 3 months for them to decide

- She has no information if my background check has been completed as Local Office cannot access that information

- I asked her if an extreme cruelty waiver always require an interview? She said it depends on the officer reviewing at USCIS VSC

- My change of address AR-11 submission online is not reflected on their system, asked me to resubmit (A-number is mandatory field)

- As an immigrant I should be updating USCIS with my change of address everytime I change location until I become Citizen

Hope it helps! Good luck all :)

I dont think so.

I called the uscis customer service number, followed the instructions and a guy answered. It seemed as he was just reading out of a scenario they supposed to do everytime somebody asks for an enquiry. How do you get to the tier 2 officer ?

Please read this as "I showed her my driving license and explained that DMV and my employer both consider validity of the extension letter only upto 08/30/2017". Sorry for the typo.

Aargh! These stories of address changes not being incorporated into the system are so frustrating!!! At least you found out about it and can make sure it sticks this time.

True, I am now planning to send the AR-11 hard copy alongwith online resubmission. Hopefully it will get updated.

Same for me. I did change of address. And found out now that they don't see anything. I even received a mail saying and confirming my change of address. The officer told me to resubmit and call again to confirm in 5 days.

Tell them you need to verify your address on file and they will transfer you to an officer.

Hi Everyone,

I just got off the phone with a tier 2 officer. Back in February, I got a notice in the mail saying that my case was being transferred from VSC to CSC. It's been 5 months with no word. So, I call today and ask them if anyone has been assigned to the case, did my case successfully make it to CSC? etc.

He said, he had NO record of me being sent a notice of my case being transferred (as I'm holding the notice in my hand) and that according to him my case was still at VSC. He said that on his end it didn't show him that I got approved, request for evidence, or anything.

As far as cases being assigned, he said that it's a first come/first served basis and that cases get processed same day normally so there is no officer that has your case for days/weeks. He said that it's possible that with the workload they "intended" to move my case, but never did.

When I asked if I did get moved would I be "in line" w/ the July filers at CSC or Feb/March 2017 filers and he said he had no idea.

So now I'm stressing, to not know where my case is officially and it's just a matter of assuming that my case never moved is stressful. He did say that one year of waiting seemed long.
