And the worse case scenario is next Feb for July/August filers

Yeah and that is troubling. Folks who have talked to USCIS have indicated the reps attribute the delay to the federal hiring freeze and the increasing volume of applications.

If this is true, I'm not sure these delays will be fixed anytime soon as there doesn't seem to be any indication of a lift of the freeze. Also considering it's Trump (not to segue into Politics), I expect a steady increase in the volume of applications for a while.

In my opinion, the only consolation is knowing that we've at least waited for a year or so and hopefully before the end of the year, we will receive some responses on our cases.

It will be interesting to see how 2016 compares to 2017 processing times. What make this year so different from last year

I filed last August. At least it has been a year for you. I got 2 months to go before I reach one year mark.

I-130 Application Disaster in 2014-2015!  :bonk:  Huge backlog for applicants applying from outside the US!  :dead:

It took me 13 months to get the permanent resident visa!  :ranting:  It took some people 18 months to get the visa!  :wow:

Those of us are applying to renew our Green Cards now!  :protest:  It's USCIS's fault that they processed our cases so slowly in 2014-2015!  :dead:

They should've prepared for it this time (of course, they didn't)!

I know there was an increased volume of H1B applications (since the rumour is that they're going to be discontinued) but there certainly isn't much of an "increased volume" of ROCs. I can't imagine that suddenly and randomly, 2 years ago, a massive number (say, 4x more than normal) of F1 and CR1 applications, which is now at the ROC stage.

There was a backlog 2 years ago at this time (about the time of the last "government shutdown") but that doesn't mean there were more applications. It just means they were disorganized and slow then, and they're disorganized and slow now.

And we're at the bottom of the priority list.

I'm not panicking or anything. I'm just so tired of this waiting. USCIS can speed up as unexpectedly as it slows down... which is almost worse, since we're moving this summer (and will have a few weeks in transit where we're not actually living anywhere with an address. I just know that that is when they're going to try to send us something.

I guess for those of us who did the AOS in the States might be a bit different. It only took me a few weeks to get my 130 approved after the 485 interview. I was delayed a bit because I had to apply for a 601 waiver due to my two minor misdemeanors, and it only took 6 months for that, when my waiver was approved, my CG was approved. What might be interesting is to compare processing times for 751 last year to this year. As far as I know, last year was normal, but this year is pretty screwed up. It has taken then 5 months just to move for one month worth of applications. We will probably have to wait until the end of this year or till the beginning of next year. So frustrating

We're actually going to get our mail redirected (and do an address change) to the inlaws... that way my Mother In Law can open it to see if it's an RFE... it's just such a huge P.I.T.A.

I came here with a student visa, I guess it is always faster to apply 130 if one is in the States.

I'm pretty sure she is only on the hook while you have your greencard so if it gets denied she is free and clear.
