Hello! I'm new here and wanted to join the community of fellow immigrants on this journey. I married a US citizen and here is a brief timeline for my cases:

I-751

- Filed on July 8th, 2016

- NOA on July 11th, 2016 (California Service Center)

- Biometrics done on August 4th, 2016

- Pending ever since

N-400:

- Filed under the 90 days before 3 years rule

- Filed on July 11th, 2017 at the Phoenix Lock Box

- NOA on July 17th, 2017 (NBC)

- Moved to a different state after a week of applying for N-400

- Filled address change form online the day I moved

- Had an infopass appointment to get a I-551 extension stamp on July 28, 2017

- Biometrics appointment got sent to old address, so I received it late through USPS mail forwarding. Made an Infopass appointment and I was told that the address change did not go through for some reason. Then was directed to go to the local ASC as a walk in for biometrics.

- Biometrics completed on August 10, 2017 as a walk in

- USCIS Case Status online changed to "Case In Line for Interview" on August 28th, 2017

I have had no status changes since then. I have since made an infopass appointment to figure out what's going on with my case. The IO said that the NBC requested my file to be moved from California to the NBC to have them together. My case is waiting in the interview pool and will be sent to the local office, after which my interview will be scheduled. They said that my I-751 will likely not go anywhere because they'll prioritize my N-400 and basically approve them together on the interview date. They said my background check was done and there were no derogatory remarks on my file. I just need to sit tight and wait.

Yesterday, (after 4 months since my infopass), I put an online inquiry into my I-751 hoping to nudge them to push my case forward. This will likely do nothing and I will receive a similar answer to my last infopass appointment. But figured it couldn't hurt to hear an update. Our local office is currently processing December 20, 2016  (that was updated on Dec 26, 2017, but says as of "Oct 31, 2017"), so my guess is at least another 6 months before my interview happens.

If anyone here has additional insight into my situation, I'd love to hear it! If not, I'm glad to share my journey on here with fellow immigrants! :)

Can you please help , what are the documents you have been submitted for N 400.

If possible , can u share a template for cover letter for N 400.

Thanks

anyone still waiting? Even infopass appointments are not available at the moment. Sent another e-mail request 2 weeks back.

18 months and counting...my friend who applied 6 months later (VSC and same field office) than me just got her approval letter. Slowly I have the feeling that they might lost my case.

I am still waiting after sending my RFE response at the end of November.

Did you contact your congressman? They would be able to get a response much faster.

They generally do i751 interview if you got an interview waiver for i485.

I would say call a tier 2 officer and contact your congressman as soon as possible just in case any notice got lost in the mail.

Hopefully they approve yours soon too.

My case status online still says the same as 18 months ago, that they received my application. Had my biometrics done in August 2016 and after my first service request I found out that my application was mailed from VSC to my field office in August 2017. Since then nothing. I'm waiting to see what my second service request is going to tell me, if the same as my last one then I am most likely contact our congressman. Tier 2 officer didn't tell me anything other than what I already know.

On Jan, 16, I received "Your card was mailed".

I was waiting for it since 6/25/16 (NOA date).

Fingerprints were done in October/16

On 12/06/17,  I contacted Tier 2 telling that my case was outside normal processing time.

Received appointment letter to do fingerprints again on 12/26/17.

01/16/18 received a bunch of text messages then I checked my status: "Your card was mailed".

01/22/18 received my new GC.

Good luck for all here. this process is really a pain in the ###.

Just google congressman and your zip code.  Call the phone number for your congressman's office and tell them you need help for an immigration problem.  They will ask you for your information and ask you to sign a disclosure form and send it back.  They can normally get a response in a week.  I haven't contact my congressman yet, as the official time frame for USCIS to get back to RFE response is 60 days from the day they received your package.

Good luck!

Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: China
Timeline

My I-751 was approved on January 12th. I filed my N-400 June 2017, and I had an interview for both the I-751 and N-400 on January 11th.

The interview letter I received made no mention of the I-751, and there was also no mention of my husband being required to go to the interview with me. He went to USCIS with me, but the AO said he could wait in the waiting area.

At the interview, the AO didn't really ask me questions about the I-751 other than telling me that he's never before had to deal with both applications for one person at the same time. He skimmed through my I-751 and told me he saw no issues. He said that I will not receive my 10-year green card, but we filled out an affidavit so that I have something to turn in at the oath ceremony. The interview questions were geared more towards the N-400 application.

As of right now, my case status still says "Received", so I don't expect it to change. All in all, I'm glad that I applied for citizenship while the I-751 was still pending.
