Minor correction- a sura is a chapter in the Quran. a verse is an ayat. But that said, it seems to me that this judge is no different than many OT posters on VJ.

So is it OK or not to beat your wife per the Quran?

from what i saw in the article, the judge in this case was a female......

I wonder if they ever got thrown out if IHOP . :whistle:

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

No it is not okay to beat your wife according to the Quran. Of course their are those that have interpreted it as such. BUT you will be hard pressed to find a legitimate Islamic scholar to supports this interpretation.

This German judge apparently (much to outrage of the entire German juscial system) took an isolated ayat and misused it due to her lack of knowledge abotu ISlam as a whole. Sounds like OT to me.

No it is not okay to beat your wife according to the Quran. Of course their are those that have interpreted it as such. BUT you will be hard pressed to find a legitimate Islamic scholar to supports this interpretation.
