Traveling from Bahamas K1

As stated in another topic, the Bahamas has its own US Customs section which you have to pass through to board your flight. We've been working with an immigration lawyer to make sure everything's covered, but they suggested maybe heading to JFK. See below.

"It may still be an option if entering through JFK, however. In this case, a stamp is placed inside the passport to show that work authorization has been granted. It's not the norm, and is not offered freely upon entry. It has to be requested, and then the officer at the port of entry has to authorize it. It's up to them, only at their discretion."

I know there's been quite a bit of talk on this topic, and the reason we're even considering JFK is because she used to work in the US on OPT, so she has a SSN already, and her previous job wants her back ASAP. Having US Customs in Nassau do this would put a snag in it, yes? Does JFK even do this anymore?

She can't work on a K-1 visa before she either gets the EAD or the GC.

There are no stamp at POE for K-1´s to get work authorization.

K-1 visa is not authorized to work. Full stop. No stamp at JFK will allow a K-1 visa holder to work
