Hi everyone,

So tomorrow I finally become a citizen and have made travel plans to go to Europe at the end of this month. (Exactly 3 weeks)

My dillemma is that if I apply for the expedited passport it could take 3 weeks or perhaps longer. Would it be a good idea to wait until I have 2 weeks left and make an appointment at the passport agency?

Appreciate any input, thanks

That's what I did - waited until I was in the two week prior to travel window and applied for expedited passport at the passport agency. Had the passport in two days.

Awesome! I'm glad to hear its not a big issue. Thought someone working there might get all sassed up about it.

When were you scheduled for after calling for an appointment? And do they ask you to come pick it up? I only work 2 buildings away, so that would be convenient

Thank you friend!

Ur wlcm☺

Remember to wait until it's 2weeks prior to travel and make an appointment with the passport agency that services your region.

Also don't forget your required documents.

Btw, I just checked through my files. I paid $195 to be exact, $10 for parking in Dallas, TX ?

One time I took my friend to the passport agency located in Miami. We got there at 8am in the morning, he had the passport the same day at 4pm. I had to sign an affidavit saying that I knew him because he had no id , he lost everything. I don't know if this helps you but I am pretty sure if your willing to pay extra they have same day or next day service available.

You call the number and schedule it for the date that works for you. I made sure the date was 2 weeks prior to my trip.

I also picked up the passport in person as I didn't want them mailing my naturalization certificate separately and it getting lost. They'll let you know when exactly the passport will be ready.

Hi milimelo,

thanks for your reply. So could I call them on monday and set up an appointment for the coming friday (which is exactly 2 weeks from my departure)?

And good tip, I only work 10 mins away from the agency, so I'll make sure to let them know I'll pick it up. I wasn't aware that the naturalization certificate is taken from you while processing.

It's automated number so you can call even today to set it up. Yes, you will need to give them your certificate while they work on your passport.
