You don't need that kind of evidence when you send out the I-129F. You already sent proof with your I-130 which is your marriage certificate. Start collecting all other evidence for whe you have the interview and those don't have to be translated since I'm sure the CO will be bilingual.

You probably don't need to send those things at all, as mentioned.

But, if you DO send any non-English documents to a USCIS service center, then you'll need to send a translation, certified by the person who translated it. The certification has to state that the person who did the translation has the required language ability and that the translation is complete and accurate.

For the interview, the consulate normally doesn't have that requirement, because the consulate normally has bilingual staff who can understand the local language (but check your specific consulate for possible translation requirements). The USCIS service centers handle applications covering the whole world, and their staff aren't familiar with every possible language, hence the translation requirement for things you send to the USCIS service centers.

A non-English document sent to a USCIS service center without a translation is very likely to generate an RFE, even if the document itself wasn't essential to the petition.

I'm not sure if this is true....it says that you can block out any and all personal information from the emails, so why would it matter what it said. I sent several emails as proof. As soon as I get my NOA2 (oh no, or RFE) I will let you know.

When sending letters and e-mails as proof... should I translate them into English? I sent the I-130 out yesterday and am starting to prepare the

I-129F!!

Kristi

You don't send e-mails as proof when you file a petition. They are only used as proof of an ongoing relationship, if asked for at interview. There is no need to translate personal communications between the petitioner and beneficiary/applicant. Official documents not in English that are required by the Consulate or Embassy may require certified translation. Check with your specific interview location for those requirements.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

What about an "International" Marriage certificate? We were married in Rome and our marriage certificate is "translated" on the back of the certificate in such a way that there are translations into 5 languages including English, corresponding to each field on the marriage certificate. Should I translate it anyway?

You will have to translate international marriage certificate.

We have received an RFE because of that. They want documents in english only. My husband took our marriage certificate to some sort of agency and it was translated next day.

It would be better for you to do it now, because you will eventualy receive an RFE and you will have to do it anyway...

Good luck!

Well, it seems like it is all up to person who is dealing with your file. Our marriage certificate was international too and it contains filelds in english, but we have received RFE about it...

It looks like it is all different from case to case, or schould I say that it depends on people who are working with our cases.

Anyway, it is better to be safe then sorry

thanks!! As far as I can tell, I don't need to send any documents (except our marriage certificate, translated of course) because we are already married... I guess I don't really get the point of the I-129F since we are married?
