Missed Biometric Appointment - Sent To Wrong Address - FREAKING OUT

 Share

Hi Guys,

I have missed my bio metrics appointment due to it being sent to the wrong address. I have a copy of my application and I did not make the error (correct on my paperwork), once I noticed this (I-765 was sent to correct address, i-485 was not) I contacted USCIS and changed it. Once I changed it, I rang up and asked if any documentation had been sent to the incorrect address by mistake. I was told no.

After not receiving a biometrics appointment for some time I got through to USCIS, where I was told that I had missed the appointment as it was sent to the wrong address. They sent a service request and stated I would be receiving a letter on July 21st stating what action would be taken. The individual I spoke to told me he relayed to the officer that it had been sent to the wrong address but could not confirm if the contents of the letter would be a new biometrics appointment or would contain what instructions of what to do next.

Do I have any recourse for this? What can I do? My wife is about to give birth in under two months and this is the last thing we need.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Stuart

You should call USCIS hotline and ask to speak to a Level 2 officer.

They can look into when your appointment was scheduled and may be able to fax the notice to you as well.

Otherwise, make an infopass appointment ASAP with you local USCIS field office to discuss the issue.

I have known of people walking in to their nearest ASC and telling their story. The person in charge can generate an appointment letter and do the biometrics right then and there. It depends on how nice your office is and if it's not a really long drive to venture on a possible wild goose chase. Just saying it os a possibility. Check hours and don't show up early when they would be busiest. Try for 1 pm.

Many thanks. I will do that.

Unfortunately all the info pass appointments for NYC are booked up (and closer offices are booked up too). In addition to this Level 2 officer transfers have been stopped for today as it's so busy after the 4th of July. I will try again tomorrow.

Many thanks, I will do that tomorrow. I'm not far from an ASC so I'll try it. I live in the Bronx so I don't imagine they'll be nice haha but whatever - I'll give it a shot. Thanks again.

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Canada
Timeline

I had a different situation. I received the letter just find, and in my memory I "logged" when the appointment was. Only when I logged the appointment in my memory, it was for a week after what the letter had stated. #######! So, I went into my local center and explained the situation where they were very nice, they took biometrics there no problem and I've had no problems ever since. I am in Seattle, so not sure if the west coast is nicer than the east coast, or if it's because I'm Canadian and said "sorry" a lot  .

All the best to you - I am sure it will work out, and calling to speak to a Level 2 officer probably wouldn't hurt!

Thanks! Best of luck with yours too!

I managed to speak to a level 2 officer and I'm still waiting on a new biometrics letter. Hope this one comes through.

Just a quick update for anyone reading this post now or in the future.

I rang USCIS and I was told they were sending me a new biometrics appointment, each time I rang I made a point of double checking with the level two officer that the letter had a) been sent out again and b) to the correct address. Each time I asked they assured me that it had, so I decided to wait until I received the new letter. However, after receiving an RFE that was sent sometime after this letter was supposed to have been sent out a separate officer told me no letter was ever generated!

So I followed the walk in advice and the very friendly staff sorted it all out for me. If anyone comes up against a similar issue with biometrics, I would advise you to not to wait for any letters and try and do a walk in.

And thanks for all your help everyone.
