I'm in the same boat! Got approved June 9th, and my husband called and I have a case number and IIN number - but they told me I can't really do anything until they contact me?

Does anyone know if they contact you via e-mail or mail? Canada Post is possibly going on strike (grrr!)

I thought if I had the case number and IIN number then I could do the DS-261 application online.

USCIS Process:

Sent I-130 (via Canada Post): Feb 29, 2016

NOA1 hardcopy received: March 16, 2016

NOA2 approval text & email: June 9, 2016

NVC Process:

Case number and IIN Assigned: July 5, 2016

Choice of Agent (DS-261) completed: July 6, 2016

IV application (DS-260) completed: July 12, 2016

Sent AOS & IV packets (Electronic Processing): July 14, 2016

CC: July 20, 2016

Medical: September 13, 2016

Interview: September 19, 2016 APPROVED!

POE: October 31, 2016

ROC Process:

Submitted I-751 (USPS Overnight): August 2, 2018

Approved: August 21st, 2019

They send everything by email if you gave them your email when you called to get your case number in IIN. Did you try to fill out the DS261? Or did they just tell you you couldnt?

Well sign into the CEAC website and try. There is no harm in doing so. It either works or it doesn't. You can't an won't be penalized for it. It's simply a matter of whether or not it lets you.

Didn't work yesterday, but it does today! WHOOO!

Would it be best if I used my husband (the petitioner and US citizen) as the agent and then I pay the fees, then what? From the guides it seems then I wait about 30 days and I should prep my AOS package, with the aff. of support, etc?

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

What?

Assign your usc spouse or yourself as the agent. Pay the AOS from a US bank account as it becomes available. After the AOS shows paid, send the IV and AOS package. When the DS-261 is reviewed the IV fee will be available to pay. After that shows paid you can complete the DS-260. If everything is right you should have your CC within 6 weeks and an interview date about a month later for a about month out from that.

As soon as you get case number and Inv number log in to Website

File DS261 / Pay fee

They will tell you that we will give you case number but it won't be processed till few weeks but ignore that.

As soon as u fill out DS261 wait for day or 2 and call them and have it review over phone to next steps will be unlock few days after that.

Want to Speed up NVC Process ?


Check Guides From Guide section for doccuments and list of stuff and follow this steps


Step 1 After USCIS NOA2 Gather all AOS / IV Package Documents In 3 weeks


Between USCIS Approving and NVC Case Number you have 2 to 3 weeks gather all AOS and IV Documents Get package ready.


Step 2 Obtain NVC Invoice and Case number.


​After 2 weeks of NOA2 Keep on Calling NVC every day to get case number And Invoice number


Step 3 Pay First Fee and DS261


After getting NVC Case Number and Invoice Number Log in to webpage Pay First Fee and Fill out DS261 Takes 24 to 38 Hr to get fee status paid.


Step 4 Conform Agent / Ds261 Over Phone and Sent out Documents


Once First fee turns Paid Online ( Usualy 24 to 48 hr) Call NVC And conform choice of agent over Phone If they won't keep on calling them Until someone will Or other fee won't be unlocked.Also Once you get Welcome letter on email Print out Document Checklist sheet And Sent in your documents to NVC


Step 5 Pay Other Fee and Fill out DS260 (Total time from DS 261 to here should be no longer then 15 days )


​Step 6 Conform Document delivery AT NVC And Ask them Processing Time..


Step 7 Check For CC ( Hopefully no REF )


Call them every other day 2 weeks from DS260 and Check status.. Also Check Online NVC Page If you have 3 N/A your case Complete! Congratulation you are almost done.


Step 8 48 Hr After CC Conformation Call NVC For appointment for interview


Congratulation On your NVC CC AND Good Luck with Interview
