I filled a I601 waiver with a priority date of May 26. At this rate I may get. Response by November or December. My passport expires in March 2017. Is it necessary to renew my passport. Does it have to be valid 6 month's after my interview? Thanks in advance.

We filed for a different type of visa. We did not notify the embassy until after the new medical was done. DHL made him send his new passport in with the new medical exam results. If you have a way to notify them of the new visa number (email or something) I guess it wouldn't hurt.

Thanks. I watched the USCIS tracker during our whole waiver process. There were about 12 other I-601s received on the same day as mine. It seems about half got RFEs. The other half got approved but not for another month or so. Latest trend is that it takes 2 months after you send in the RFE response to get a decision. One case I still watch sent in their RFE response on May 18, 2016...still no decision.

I hope you get a straight approval without RFE too! Good Luck!
