Did your wife drive in her own country? Learning from scratch at a later age can be very difficult. Luz knows how to drive but the way they do it in PI is worlds apart from the way we do it here. She wants to get her DL asap which is good by me. As soon as we can I will get her a learning permit and let her drive as much as she wants. The mechanics of driving will not be a problem for her, just the rules and the ####### way the cops enforce the law here is the only thing she needs to learn.

I think that was part of the problem: Nani hasn't operated as much as a bicycle in her life let alone a car. And you are absolutely right, trying to learn this at a later age (though she ain't even 30 yet) is very hard. Which is why I see this as a great accomplishment.

Congrats to her! It is very liberating to be able to go where she wants without looking for a ride. America is a car oriented country and it's almost a requirement to drive.

Is sure is where we live. The nearest bus stop is 1.5 miles away from our house and it only has express buses that head to / from downtown in the am and pm. Nothing at all that would get you to the mall or somesuch. So yeah, this is very liberating for her.
