Hi, I can't seem to find anything here or on Google about this:

How the heck should we actually literally DO the translations of the documents? Should we make a copy of the forms/PDFs and insert new text near the foreign text? Or is it better to make a new document from scratch with the translation, even though it will not match the layout of the original?

Thanks!

I just used comment boxes/text boxes in Adobe to place text over the PDF of the scanned document.

Do not alter the original documents. Do the translation on a blank page and follow the layout of the original document.

Sometimes the layout would be hard to replicate in a new doc. I am thinking it would be OK to alter not the original but a duplicate PDF (pasting text boxes in for example). Unless I'm mistaken... I would include an unaltered copy of course.

One more question:

Re the "certification of translation" statement (by my husband) –

The USCIS suggests the right wording/format for this, and the wording refers to the "above/attached" document. I think this means (and I read someone else saying this but I wanted to confirm) that the statement doesn't have to be on a separate page but can be typed at the bottom of the translated copy?

Thank you!!

I think most (myself included) put on a separate page, but I don't know that it would be wrong to put at the bottom of the copy. I think the risk would be that they wouldn't see it there and that is likely why most of us attach on a separate page.
