Hi! New applier here! My package was received on June 30th, and I know it has been 4th of July but it's already been two weeks and I'm worried because I didn't use lawyer or anything and I see that most of the people get their NOAs withing a week or less... ?

Did you send a personal check? Was it cleared from your account?

I sent two money orders for biometrics and the i485form from usps...

I just want to buy the tickets to go see my family on xmas so I just want to know they are starting to look into my application and the advance parole...

Can you check if the money orders were cashed?

It's not advisable to make any plans before having the card in hand

i know, but the tickets are less than $1000 rn and they will be $2000 in some months...

And I checked this morning and it said it couldnt find it so I'm hoping that means it was checked...

I'm just going to wait another week... Patience is a virtue...

I can imagine the frustration. Mine was delivered exactly last Friday and no word of anything. No movement. Lets hope they get on our cases ASAP.

Good luck!

Hi everyone!! Excited to start round 2 of this process (not really lol). We mailed our packet on July 8th and tracking shows that it was delivered on July 11th. Haven't gotten the NOA1 as yet nor has the check been cashed. How long did it take for you to get your NOA1?

Mine took 15 days to get the hard copy (today)...we got the e-copy 2 days ago...I know, the wait is killer but from the first go around, I realized afterwards that all that anxiety was not necessary...hang in there :)

Hi everybody! So... I just got my whole package back (even the checks) and it says that "based on the information you provided, your priority date could not be established".

And the reasons could be:

- I-130 (i thought that document is if you are leaving outside the us?)

- I-140 (immigrant petition for alien worker) I'm applying because I got married in the us in a J-1 visa.

- I-360 (petition for widow...)

- Other evidence that your visa petition has been aproved on your behalf (I sent copies of all my visas from the last years)

So, could it be that I need to send the I-130? Because I don't know what else is missing in my package and what they sent me is not very helpful... ???

Your post is a little confusing. Are you a widow? Which visa you got into the USA with?

Check the guides and see what best describes your situation. I know that If youre adjusting status from a work, tourist, esta/ visa waiver, you need to file i130 concurrently. The work authorization form should be i765.

Sorry, no, I was here on a j-1 visa for the last two years and got married to a us citizen some months ago. J-1 visa is an exchange visa but I guess that's what is missing? Because I have everything else that is requested... And do I have to fill the i-130 or does my wife have to fill it for me?

Thanks for your help!

So you are here now because you entered with a j1 visa. So then, yes, your wife should've filled the i130 for you and you should've added that and the supporting documents on your i485 packet.

Take a look and follow this guide http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2 this one is for when both spouses are living in the USA.

Good luck

Lol damn, all these papers and I forgot the most important one ? At least I know they got them...

And if I am filling it together with the i-485, do I have to pay the $420 for the i130 too or are they included in the $900 for the i-485? Sorry for all the questions and thanks!

You have to pay $420 for the i130 and $1070 for the aos, being $985 for the I485 form and $85 for biometrics fee. If you want, you can file for a work and travel authorization (i765 and i131, respectively) and doing it with the packet you're sending or after, their fees are waived, you don't have to pay any extra.

Follow the guide I linked and you'll be fine, but Be careful with the checks amounts or the package can be rejected again.
