The weird situation continues... So after the case status for my I-131 changed to "Document was mailed" on August 12, I received a letter today in the mail with my paper NOA for my I-131 (which I had never received, it was returned to USCIS by the post office for whatever reason).

The strange thing is that the NOA has a red stamp on it that says:

Action Completed

Approved for Filing

Date: 8-12-16

Some other letters and codes

What is going on? Does anyone know? I have scoured the Internet but no one seems to know what this stamp means, or whether that means my AP is on the way!

Thanks for responding! The paper NOA (I-797) for my I-131 was returned to USCIS by the Post Office because apparently they weren't able to deliver it to my mailbox. I got the rest of my paper NOAs though.

Looks like after the NOA was returned to them, USCIS sent it back to out to me, except this time it had that red stamp. My case status also changed to card/document mailed - but I guess they meant the NOA?

Oh, i see. Whats are the other NOAs you received? NOAs are different from the card itself, it's just the approval. Wait for a couple more days for your combo card for i 765 and i 131.

I got text on Aug 10 and 15 that my NOAs were returnted to USCIS because USPS can't deliver it. Waiting to see if USCIS is going to send it back to me or not. My status is still say that notice was returned to USCIS.

I hope that it does mean the combo card - thank you! I completely understand that NOAs are different from the card. The NOA returned to me with the red stamp was just the initial receipt notice, which is why I was confused. I have not received any approval notices in the mail.

The other NOAs I received were a few days after I sent my packet - I-485, I-130, and I-765. Case status hasn't changed for any of them.

Just got biometrics letter in the post and decided to add my AOS timeline on my signature. So exciting! Nice to see things moving along however, I know now is the longest wait. Still - Good news! Anyone else waiting for their biometrics letters?

I've got my fingers and toes crossed. There generally is no rhyme or reason to them sending stuff out. When I filed my K-1 I seemed to get my approval 3 weeks after people who filed after me did. You'll get it soon! All the best!

I had my biometrics done earlier today. I went to the Elizabeth NJ office. Everything I read about the Elizabeth USC is true.?? I was there from 11:30-2:35 my appointment was 12nn. When I got to the receptionist, I have my appointment letter and ID. On my ID I still have my maiden name while my USCIS letter I had my married name. The lady asked me "you got married?" I said yes. Then she asked for my Marriage Cert?? I told her, I didnt think I needed to bring it because on the USCIS bio letter it states you only need to bring the apointment letter and ID. I also didnt think I need to show my marriage cert because obviosly I am here to adjust my status to a GC holder because I got married!! (duh) Then she said, You need to talk to my manager. Boom she brought me to the mgrs office, who was on lunch from 12:00-1:00, so I waited outside her office for 1 hr. There were 20 of us waiting for her. They went by what was on my ID which is my maiden name. I asked the supervisor what name will appear on my ead, greencard etc. now that on my biometrics they changed it to my maiden name. They gave me no answer I think I just have to wait and see.. I will keep praying. That's my story..oh, try the empanadas right across the office OMG amazing!! all the best to everyone!

What app? My case number is not even showing online yet :/

I mentioned one app earlier in a post. I found the one for Android by searching the app store for "USCIS Case Status". There are a few. I picked a free one with good ratings. (USCIS APP) You can enter your cases and it will send you an alert if your status changes....or at least it says so. Since mine hasn't changed, I can't confirm this.

But I get lots of updates that other cases have moved forward and it tells you what those were (I-131....). You can also analyst the cases around you. That was awesome as I could see cases after mine already received RFE's....hopefully that means we don't get one anymore.
